Tanta University Celebrates World Autism Day with Participation of Students from the Intellectual Education School, in Line with Presidential Directives to Support Persons with Disabilities

   In line with the political leadership’s commitment guided by His Excellency the President of the Republic, and his ongoing directives to provide all forms of support, accessibility, and facilitation for persons with disabilities, Tanta University marked the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day, observed annually in April. The university, in cooperation with the Directorate of Education in Gharbia, was keen to engage students with disabilities from the Intellectual Education School on Said Street, as part of activating its service-oriented and community role.

   The celebration was held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Hussein Mahmoud, University President, and under the supervision of Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Ahmed Ebada El-Araby, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Chairman of the Board of the University’s Students with Disabilities Service Center; Prof. Rania Abdo El-Emam, Dean of the Faculty of Specific Education; and Prof. Mohamed Zain El Abedin Mareikb, Manager of the University’s Students with Disabilities Services Center. The event was coordinated with and attended by Mr. Nasser Ismail, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education in Gharbia; Dr. Abdel Fattah Abdo, Director of Education in Gharbia; Dr. Enas Khedr, Director of the Special Education Department; as well as Mr. Mahmoud Khamis, the school principal.

   During the celebration, Prof. Mahmoud Selim highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the Special Education Department through the organization of specialized training courses at the Faculty of Arts, focusing on behavior development and modification, in addition to speech therapy courses delivered by the Department of Psychology. These programs are to be held at the university’s Main Center for Students with Disabilities at the Faculty of Arts.

   The celebration also featured the provision of comprehensive support to the participating students, who excelled in presenting a variety of artistic and musical performances, in addition to showcasing a collection of drawings and decorative artworks of their own creation—reflecting their remarkable talents and distinguished abilities.
