In collaboration with the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, Child University Program at Tanta University Continues Its Activities at the Faculty of Pharmacy to Develop Children's Skills in Health and Science

As part of the activities of the Child University Program, and under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Tanta University President, with the supervision and attendance of Prof. Mahmoud Farouk Selim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, the Faculty of Pharmacy, Tanta University, welcomed students of the seventh stage – level (E2) as part of a training program designed to develop children's intellectual and creative skills while introducing them to the university environment through an integrated educational and hands-on learning experience.

The event began with the reception of the children and their parents in the presence of Prof. Mona Al-Aasar, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy; Prof. Sherin Hammad, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Samir Zaki Qamh, Coordinator of the Child University Program at Tanta University; Prof. Walaa Negm, Program Coordinator at the Faculty of Pharmacy; in addition to a number of faculty members and teaching assistants.

The children commenced their program with a guided tour of the faculty's laboratories and academic departments, where they were introduced to the education at the Faculty of Pharmacy, the faculty's role in supporting the healthcare sector, and its specialized laboratories and facilities that foster learning, exploration, and scientific curiosity.

The program included a variety of educational and practical activities across several academic departments. At the Department of Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry, the children learned about different chemical substances and the physical and chemical properties of selected elements and metals. They also observed a series of simple chemical reactions that simply presented scientific concepts in an engaging and interactive manner.

The visit also included the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, where the children were introduced to different types of microorganisms, their significance, and their role in the environment and human health. They also learned about biodiversity of microorganisms, helping to enhance their awareness of the importance of biological sciences in everyday life.

The educational tour concluded at the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, where faculty members provided a simplified explanation of the components of toothpaste, the function of each ingredient in maintaining oral and dental health, and the manufacturing process in the laboratory. The children also learned about the product's key physical and chemical properties before participating in a hands-on activity to prepare toothpaste themselves in an atmosphere of enthusiasm and active engagement. Each participant took home a sample of the toothpaste they had produced.

During his inspection tour, Prof. Mahmoud Selim closely followed the activities taking place in the faculty's laboratories and observed the children's interaction with the scientific experiments. He also engaged them in discussions about microorganisms, the use of microscopes, and the stages of toothpaste manufacturing, listening to their impressions of the experience and the knowledge and skills they had acquired.

Prof. Mahmoud Selim emphasized that the Child University Program is one of the country's most significant national initiatives for forming the character of Egyptian children by providing a university environment that encourages learning, exploration, and creativity while fostering scientific thinking, innovation, and entrepreneurial skills from an early age.

He added that Tanta University is committed to providing a comprehensive, practice-oriented educational experience across its various faculties, enabling children to explore modern academic disciplines and gain practical experience that enhances their creativity and connects theoretical knowledge with practical application, in line with the objectives of the Presidential Initiative for Human Development and Egypt’s Vision 2030.
