In cooperation with the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT), Tanta University’s Child University Program Organizes Scientific Training at the Faculties of Engineering and Science over Two Days
As part of the activities of the Child University Program, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Tanta University President, and under the supervision of Prof. Mahmoud Farouk Selim, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Tanta University organized a variety of scientific training sessions at the Faculties of Engineering and Science over two days, Wednesday and Thursday, August 12 and 13, 2026. During the training, the Faculty of Engineering received students from the ninth and tenth phases – Level (E1), followed by students from the seventh phase – Level (E2), while the Faculty of Science received students from the sixth phase – Level (F1), in its Medical and Energy and Environment tracks, with the aim of developing the children’s skills and linking scientific knowledge to practical application.
As part of his commitment to field follow-up of the activities of the Child University Program, Prof. Mahmoud Farouk Selim conducted an inspection tour to follow up on the students at the Faculty of Engineering and to ensure that the training and activities were proceeding in accordance with the scheduled program. He met with students from the ninth and tenth phases in the Workshops Building and listened to their views on the activities they had conducted.
Prof. Mahmoud Selim highlighted the significance of children receiving training in programming languages and artificial intelligence applications, considering them among the most important tools for advancement across all fields. He encouraged the students to benefit from these scientific experiences, emphasizing that they represent the future generation and the leaders of Egypt’s path of progress.
At the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Ahmed Mohamed Nasr, Faculty Dean; Prof. Walaa Nour, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Samir Zaki Qamh, Coordinator of the Child University Program; and Prof. Eman El-Ghamry, the Faculty’s Program Coordinator, received the participating students over the two days.
The training covered a variety of topics in energy, programming, machine learning, recycling, the environment, and green architecture. The children were introduced to applications in these fields through simplified lectures and practical workshops, and they connected scientific concepts with examples from their daily lives.
The Faculty of Science also received students from the sixth phase – Level (F1), in its Medical and Energy and Environment tracks, under the supervision of Prof. Abeer Alam Al-Din, Faculty Dean, in the presence of Prof. Zenhom El-Said, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Samir Zaki Qamh; and a number of faculty members.
Students in the Medical track learned about the parts of plants and their functions, as well as plant and animal cells, while students in the Energy and Environment track studied biogeochemical cycles and their role in the transfer of essential elements for life within ecosystems, with follow-up of the activities to ensure the students’ engagement and understanding of the scientific content.
The diversity of these training sessions underscores Tanta University’s commitment to providing children with an integrated educational and practical experience across its various faculties, helping them discover their scientific interests and abilities at an early age while developing their thinking, creativity, and innovation skills.
