As Part of the Presidential Initiative "A New Beginning for Human Development", Kafr El-Zayat District Hosts Tanta University’s Comprehensive Developmental Convoy

Prof. Mahmoud Selim, “The developmental convoys of Tanta University prove the real commitment of the political leaders to improvement of living conditions.”

   Tanta University is organizing its comprehensive developmental convoys as part of its community service activities under the presidential initiative "A New Beginning for Human Development" in the village of Kafr El-Mahrouq, located in Kafr El-Zayat district. The convoys aim to provide medical examinations and medications for free, and to organize educational and awareness symposiums under the supervision of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Acting President of Tanta University, in the attendance of Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development. The event was held in cooperation with Prof. Ahmed Ghoneim, Dean of Faculty of Medicine at Tanta University and Chairman of University Hospitals’ Board, with the participation of MP Talaat Abdel Qawy, Member of the Parliament’s Social Solidarity, Family, and PWD Committee; Prof. Sahar El-Haggar, Vice Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Prof. Loay Al-Ahwal, Acting Vice Dean of Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development.

    Prof. Mahmoud Selim followed up on the convoy's activities, including its medical, educational, and awareness programs. He met several beneficiaries from the village. During his discussions with them, he affirmed that Tanta University’s dedication and use of all its resources to serve citizens prove the real commitment of the political leaders and executive bodies to improving living conditions across all social categories. He highlighted the efforts exerted to develop the Egyptian individual as a cornerstone of modern Egypt, in line with the national sustainable development strategy and Egypt’s Vision 2030. He indicated that all governmental institutions are working together to provide citizens with essential services.

   Furthermore, Prof. Amal Abdel Sattar, Executive Manager of the Main Center for Community Services, delivered a lecture on reproductive health. The convoy also featured medical awareness symposiums on internal medicine, surgery, adults’ asthma, osteoporosis, hypertension, upper respiratory infections, nephrolithiasis, diabetes, gastrointestinal inflammation, and pediatric issues such as children’s asthma, rickets, vaccinations, and iron deficiency anemia. These symposiums were delivered by Prof. Amany Kamal Mohamed Abdullah, Prof. Maha El-Sayed El-Araby, and Prof. Siham Eid El-Halfawy.

   Moreover, Medical examinations were conducted for 922 citizens across 14 specialties, including neurosurgery, pediatrics, orthopedic surgery, dermatology, internal medicine, urology, ENT, general surgery, chest diseases, psychiatry and neurology, ophthalmology, cardiology, public health, and reproductive health. Free medications were provided to all patients, and 56 cases were referred to Tanta University Hospitals for further tests and treatment at no cost. The convoy also offered veterinary services to more than 2,484 livestock and poultry. A large number of academic staff members, doctors, and pharmacists participated in the convoy.

   In addition, the Main Center for Sustainable Training organized awareness and guidance activities in human development through the "Innovation and Development Labs" project, with the participation of Prof. Abdel Rahman Amin, Manager of the Faculty and Leadership Development Center (FLDC) affiliated with the Main Center for Sustainable Training.
