For the Second Day, Tanta University Continues Field Visits as Part of the “Reassure” Campaign in Public Schools of Gharbia Governorate

Tanta University continued its field visits as part of the “Ettamen” (Reassure) campaign for the early detection of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) among children in public schools of Gharbia Governorate. The campaign is organized in cooperation with the Directorate of Education in Gharbia Governorate, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Acting President of the University; Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President for Community Service Affairs; Prof. Ahmed El-Husseiny Helal, Dean of Faculty of Education; and Engr. Nasser Hassan, Deputy Director of the Directorate of Education in Gharbia. The campaign is supervised by Prof. Sara Al-Akel, Manager of the Center for Childhood Care and Development at Faculty of Education, and attended by several education leaders in the Kafr El-Zayat district.
Prof. Mahmoud Selim explained that the campaign aims to empower future generations in alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The activities of the day took place at Al-Shahid Pilot Mahmoud Mabrouk School in Kafr El-Zayat. Diagnosis and assessments were conducted by Dr. Mai Khafaga, Lecturer in Mental Health, and Dr. Walaa El-Abbasi, Specialist in Special Education.
On this day, 50 children from kindergarten and grades 1, 2, and 3 were examined. Diagnoses identified: 2 male children with autism, 3 children with attention disorders, 3 children with attention disorders and hyperactivity, and 2 children with autism combined with attention and hyperactivity disorders. Additionally, 4 cases of communication disorders requiring speech therapy sessions were identified. Six children were referred to specialists in inclusion programs at the Ministry of Education for further follow-up.
