For the First Time, Mobile Diagnostic Devices for Ophthalmology, ENT, and Ultrasound Medical Examinations in the Medical Convoys as Part of the Presidential Initiative "A New Beginning for Human Development"

Qutour District Hosts Tanta University’s Advanced Developmental Convoy

   Tanta University continues its comprehensive, advanced developmental convoys as part of its community service activities under the presidential initiative "A New Beginning for Human Development". The latest convoy took place in the village of Kom Ali in Tanta District, under the supervision of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Acting President of Tanta University, and in the attendance of Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Loay Al-Ahwal, Acting Vice Dean of Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development.

   Prof. Mahmoud Selim declared that as part of the efforts exerted by Community Service and Environmental Development Sector to enhance the quality of medical services provided to citizens through these advanced convoys, complete mobile diagnostic devices for ophthalmology, ENT, and ultrasound medical examinations were introduced for the first time. These devices are operated by an elite team of doctors and nursing staff from faculties of Medicine and Nursing and Tanta University Hospitals.

   During the convoy, medical examinations were conducted for 807 cases across 14 specialties, including neurosurgery, pediatrics, orthopedic surgery, dermatology, internal medicine, urology, ENT, general surgery, chest diseases, psychiatry, ophthalmology, cardiology and vascular diseases, gynecology, and the health initiatives. Medications were provided free of charge to all cases, and 54 patients were referred to Tanta University Hospitals for further examinations and treatment, also for free.

    Moreover, veterinary services were provided to over 4,145 livestock and poultry. The convoy featured the participation of a large number of academic staff members, doctors, and pharmacists.
