Tanta University Sends a Medical Convoy to Tharwat Orphanage
Reinforcing the role of higher education institutions in community service, Tanta University organized a medical convoy to Tharwat Orphanage in cooperation with the Directorate of Social Solidarity.
The convoy was organized as part of the university’s efforts to enhance the role of higher education institutions in community service, support social research, and promote social responsibility of universities. It was conducted under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Acting President of the University, and was attended by Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Loay Al-Ahwal, Vice Dean of Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Prof. Sahar Al-Haggar, Vice Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy for Community Service and Environmental Development.
The convoy aimed to provide comprehensive medical services to the children at the orphanage, including medical examinations and free treatment. This initiative is part of the university’s ongoing efforts to serve the local community and support the neediest groups, enhancing its social and developmental role. The convoy offered services in various medical specialties, conducting thorough medical check-ups for the residents and providing all necessary medications based on each case’s needs.
The medical examinations covered several specialties, including 19 cases in pulmonology, 5 in pediatrics, 16 in dermatology, 15 in ENT, 18 in internal medicine, 18 in ophthalmology, and 6 in psychiatry and neurology, totaling 97 patients. Additionally, 16 patients were referred for further examinations and treatment at University Hospitals.
