Al-Huda Retirement Home Receives the Medical Convoy of Tanta University
Today, Tanta University organized a medical convoy to Al-Huda Retirement Home, providing services across various medical specialties. The convoy conducted thorough medical examinations for the residents of the home and dispensed all necessary medications according to each case’s needs. The convoy was carried out under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Acting President of the University, in the presence of Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Loay Al-Ahwal, Vice Dean of Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Prof. Sahar Al-Haggar, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy for Community Service and Environmental Development.
Prof. Mahmoud Selim declared that the visit aimed to improve the lives of the care home residents, starting with providing psychological and social support to alleviate feelings of loneliness and isolation, and finally to enhancing their health through memory stimulation and cognitive function improvement. Moreover, the visit sought to foster strong social relationships and reinforce family bonds. The initiative also aimed to support care homes both financially and morally, provide essential volunteer services, encourage volunteerism, and raise awareness of the importance of charitable work and social solidarity. This, consequently, creates a comprehensive positive impact on the residents’ lives and strengthens values of compassion within society.
It is worth noting that the convoy provided medical consultations in various specialties, including 14 cases in neurosurgery, 13 in pediatrics, 32 in orthopedics, 22 in dermatology, 26 in internal medicine, 6 in urology, 19 in ENT, 7 in general surgery, 14 in pulmonology, 14 in psychiatry and neurology, 22 in ophthalmic surgery, and 12 in cardiology and vascular diseases.
