Under the patronage of Tanta University President and in cooperation with the General Authority for Literacy and Adult Education, Prof. Mahmoud Selim participated in launching the initiative "Knowledge is Life" for digital literacy by Tanta University and Nour Masr Charity
Today, the training course of digital literacy was launched, as part of the "Knowledge is Life" initiative organized by Tanta University under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Tanta University President, in cooperation with the General Authority for Literacy and Adult Education and Nour Masr Charity. The course targets 25 employees at the General Authority for Adult Education branch in Gharbia and is held at the headquarters of Nour Masr Charity, in the presence of Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Head of the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at Tanta University; Dr. Samah Abu Zahra, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Nour Masr Charity; Mr. Mohamed Abu Al-Nabayel, Director of the General Authority for Adult Education in the Delta Sector; Prof. Walid Samir, Vice Dean of Faculty of Education; and Dr. Aida Nasr, Assistant Professor at Faculty of Computer and Information.
Prof. Mahmoud Selim stated that Tanta University plays a leading and pivotal role in providing social services to citizens in the Central Delta region. He affirmed that the strategic plan of the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector primarily aims to develop citizens' self-capabilities.
Moreover, Prof. Selim declared that the university seeks to achieve this goal through several main pivots, including:
• Presidential and national initiatives: active participation in the initiatives launched by the state to serve citizens.
• National projects: cooperation with the executive bodies in Gharbia Governorate to implement projects that achieve comprehensive development.
• Partnership with civil society: cooperation with development partners including representatives of civil associations and economic sectors to maximize community impact.
• Application of the national strategy
In addition, Mahmoud Selim pointed out that the university exerts great efforts within the framework of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research. This strategy is based on maximizing the outputs of knowledge investment. The university applies this strategy by converting knowledge into added value benefiting individuals and institutions, thereby enhancing its role as a beacon of science, knowledge, and community service.
