Tanta University Launches “Cultured University Student” Competition Qualifiers as Part of the National Reading Project

   Tanta University launched the university-level qualifying rounds of the “Cultured University Student” competition today as part of its active participation in the fifth edition of the National Reading Project.
   The qualifying rounds were held at the Center for Gifted Students Care at the Siberbay Campus, under patronage of Prof. Mohammed Hussain, President of Tanta University. The event was attended by Prof. Al-Sayyed Al-Agouz, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Magdy Wakwak, General Coordinator of Student Activities, and Prof. Mohammed Taha, University Coordinator of the National Reading Project.
   The competition reflects Egypt's vision of investing in human development and promoting cultural awareness and knowledge among university students. This year's edition attracted significant interest, with 1,700 students from various faculties across the university participating. Following the second round of qualifiers, held last Wednesday, 13 finalists who successfully met all competition requirements advanced to the university-level finals.
   The finalists represent Faculties of Medicine, Pharmacy, Engineering, Arts, Business, and Computer and Information, in addition to one student from Samannoud Technological University, one student from Faculty of the Holy Quran at Al-Azhar University, and one student from Mansoura University.
   During his visit to the judging sessions, Prof. Al-Sayyed Al-Agouz, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, emphasized the strategic importance of the National Reading Project as a comprehensive educational initiative that promotes a culture of lifelong learning, develops critical and creative thinking skills, and identifies talented young individuals capable of contributing to the knowledge economy.
   He also expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the General Administration of Student Welfare, under supervision of Prof. Mohammed Al-Qasir, Director General of the Administration, and Mr. Mustafa Mansour, Director of the Cultural Activities Department, for their outstanding organization and logistical support, which contributed to the successful conduct of the competition.
   The judging panels comprised a distinguished group of Tanta University academics, including Prof. Ahdy Al-Sisi and Prof. Ayman Al-Fakhrany. During the evaluation process, contestants were interviewed about their reading portfolios and the books they had studied, in accordance with the assessment framework approved by the Scientific Research Foundation and the Director of Educational Projects. The framework covers the three achievement levels of the competition: Silver, Gold, and Diamond.
