During their Participation in the 6th Olympiad of Computers & AI, a Team of Students from Faculty of Computer and Information Rank 1st in the Area of Climate Change


   The team of students from Faculty of Computer and Information ranked 1st in the 6th Olympiad of Computer Science and Informatics Sector that was held on Monday and Tuesday, July 14th and 15th, 2024, in cooperation between Delta University for Science and Technology and Damietta University under the title, “Made in Egypt: Innovative Technology for Achieving Sustainable Development Goals”. The team participated with a project entitled, “Air Pollution Detecting with IOT System” in the area of Climate Change. The Olympiad was held under patronage of Prof. Mohammed Ashor, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research; Prof. Hemdan Rabea, President of Damietta University; and Prof. Yahia Al-Mashadd, President of Delta University for Science and Technology.
   For his part, Prof. Mahmoud Zaki, Tanta University President, congratulated the winning team which included the students; Abdel Rahman Ali Al-Gamal, Hazem Sameh Gouda, and Abdel Aziz Ahmed Al-Zahaby, affirming that the university pays great interest to its students and trains them to participate in local and international competitions. He appreciated the role played by Prof. Nancy Al-Hefnawy, Acting Dean of Faculty of Computer and Information; and Dr. Al-Shaimaa Hamdy Ismail, Lecturer at IT Department, in supporting and supervising the team.
   In addition, Prof. Mohammed Hussein, Vice President of Tanta University for Education and Student Affairs, commended the idea of the project, appreciating the efforts exerted by the students to gain the top rank. He affirmed keenness of the university on developing the educational process and providing all means of support to prepare qualified graduates for the local and international labor market, able to participate in building the society.
   Moreover, Prof. Nancy Al-Hefnawy added that the Olympiad was attended by a number of presidents of Egyptian universities, members of the Committee of Computer Science and Informatics Sector, deans of Faculties of Computer and Information, and Faculties of AI affiliated to governmental universities, and professors of Computer from different faculties. 82 teams, representing 36 universities and institutes, competed in the Olympiad. The projects were assessed by an elite of professors from 15 governmental, private, and Arab universities.
