Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University: From the Heart of the Delta to the Heart of Sinai — Tanta University Launches a Comprehensive Medical Convoy Serving 1,909 Citizens in Al-Arish


   Tanta University launched a comprehensive medical convoy to North Sinai Governorate over the course of two consecutive days, as part of the university’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its societal role and extend distinguished medical services to border regions and underserved communities.

   The convoy was organized under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, in cooperation with North Sinai Governorate and with the active participation of the Higher Institute of Engineering and Technology in Al-Arish. The event was attended by Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Mohamed El-Shebeiny, Director of the University Emergency Hospital, along with a number of executive and community leaders from the governorate and representatives of the Higher Institute in Al-Arish.

   Prof. Mohamed Hussein affirmed that the convoy comes within the framework of implementing the Presidential initiatives aimed at serving citizens and advancing the healthcare system. He emphasized that Tanta University’s commitment to the people of North Sinai represents a national duty of which the university is deeply proud. He further noted that full coordination had been carried out with all partner entities to ensure the provision of integrated services, including medical examinations and free medication dispensing.

   He added that, through such convoys, the university seeks to transfer the medical expertise and specialized cadres of its university hospitals to the most remote geographical areas, in support of the State’s efforts to build and empower the Egyptian citizen and provide a dignified life across all parts of the nation. He also extended his appreciation to Prof. Mahmoud Selim and Prof. Mohamed Hantira, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of University Hospitals.

   For his part, Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, explained that this convoy represents the 29th convoy launched by the university outside the geographical scope of Gharbia Governorate, and the third convoy directed to the city of Al-Arish in North Sinai Governorate. He stated that this figure reflects the university’s ambitious strategy to geographically expand its medical and community services, underscoring its role as a developmental beacon extending beyond the Delta region to the heart of Sinai and other border areas, in response to the call of national duty.

   He further noted that the convoy was carefully prepared to include all essential medical specialties and featured a distinguished group of professors and consultants across various medical disciplines. Necessary examinations were conducted, and medical consultations were provided to residents.

   The total number of cases that received medical care through the convoy reached 1,909 cases, including:
• 140 cases in Neurosurgery,
• 143 in Pediatrics,
• 288 in Orthopedics,
• 188 in Dermatology,
• 211 in Internal Medicine,
• 92 in Urology,
• 149 in Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT),
• 75 in General Surgery,
• 106 in Chest Diseases,
• 52 in Psychiatry and Neurology,
• 273 in Ophthalmic Surgery,
• 73 in Cardiology and Vascular Diseases,
• and 119 in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
