During his inspection tour of the specialized and environmental laboratories at the Faculty of Engineering, Tanta University, Dr. Mohamed Hussein stated: “We are moving steadily toward global leadership through the development of specialized laboratories as a cornerstone for innovation and resource development.”

Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, conducted an extensive inspection tour at the Faculty of Engineering to monitor the progress of work within the specialized laboratories and assess their readiness and role in supporting the educational and research system. Accompanying him during the tour were Prof. Ahmed Nasr, Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Emad Othman, former Vice President of the University, in addition to the vice deans, center directors, faculty members, and administrative staff.

The tour included visits to several research centers and specialized laboratories within the faculty. The University President inspected the Environmental Monitoring Laboratory, the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Laboratory, the Materials Properties and Testing Laboratory, and the Reinforced Concrete and Heavy Structures Laboratory. The visit also covered the Electric and Hybrid Vehicle Technology Laboratory, the Robotics Unit for Simulation and Intelligent Modeling, and the Internal Combustion Engines Laboratory. During the tour, Prof. Hussein listened to detailed presentations on the operational mechanisms of these units and the advanced services they provide to students and researchers.

Prof. Mohamed Hussein emphasized that these specialized laboratories constitute the backbone of the educational and research process and represent a fundamental pillar of innovation. He noted that the faculty has adopted an ambitious strategy to modernize these laboratories and equip them with state-of-the-art international technologies in line with the requirements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. He further explained that the role of these laboratories extends beyond academic boundaries to become a vital driver for the university’s self-generated resources through the provision of high-level engineering consultations and accredited testing services that support industrial sectors and national projects. He also affirmed the university’s commitment to providing all necessary capabilities to enable these laboratories to obtain prestigious international accreditations, thereby enhancing the university’s global ranking and contributing to the realization of Egypt Vision 2030.

The President of Tanta University stressed that the university is exerting every effort to provide the financial and human resources necessary to secure internationally recognized accreditations for these laboratories. He underscored that investing in the qualification of human capital and the modernization of laboratory infrastructure remains among the university administration’s top priorities. This direction aims to ensure that research outputs and technical services comply with international standards, thereby directly contributing to the enhancement of the university’s global ranking, opening new avenues for cooperation with international research and industrial institutions, and transforming innovative ideas into practical solutions that support the national economy.

Prof. Hussein further affirmed that linking scientific research to industrial needs and resource development through internationally accredited laboratories constitutes a fundamental commitment to Egypt Vision 2030. He noted that the faculty continues to provide all necessary support and facilities for researchers in order to foster an environment conducive to creativity and innovation. He added that the integration of material and human resources will pave the way for these specialized laboratories to become nuclei for internationally distinguished centers of excellence serving the Delta region and the nation as a whole, while ensuring the optimal utilization of scientific capabilities in achieving sustainable development and institutional self-sufficiency.

For his part, Prof. Ahmed Nasr, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, commended the continuous support and forward-looking vision of the university administration. He confirmed that the faculty’s specialized laboratories have already begun translating the available material and human capabilities into tangible achievements, becoming the backbone of the research process and a key pillar of innovation and technological transformation. He further pointed out that the faculty is steadily advancing toward international accreditation of its laboratory systems, thereby strengthening its role in developing self-generated resources through the provision of technical consultations and accredited measurements for the industrial sector and national projects. This progress is being achieved through the effective utilization of highly qualified human resources in a manner that enhances the university’s global standing and serves the wider community.
