As Part of the Delta Region Universities Alliance and in the Presence of the University President: Tanta University Participates in an Integrated Development Convoy in Mahallat Bishr Village, Beheira Governorate, Providing Free Medical Services to 837 Patients

   In line with the activation of the societal and developmental role of Egyptian universities, and in support of the Egyptian state's vision of human development and the provision of dignified care for citizens, Tanta University participated in a comprehensive and integrated development convoy in Mahallat Bishr Village, affiliated with Shubrakhit Center in Beheira Governorate. The initiative was launched in cooperation with a number of Egyptian universities as part of the joint activities of the Delta Region Universities Alliance.

   The convoy was attended by Dr. Shady El-Mashad, representing Dr. Jacqueline Azar, Governor of Beheira, alongside Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University; Prof. Elhamy Trabis, President of Damanhour University; and Prof. Yehia Eid, President of Kafr El-Sheikh University. They were accompanied by Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President of Tanta University for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Enas Ibrahim, Vice President of Damanhour University for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Prof. Amani Shaker, Vice President of Kafr El-Sheikh University for Community Service and Environmental Development. The event also witnessed the participation of a distinguished group of professors, specialist physicians, and nursing staff from Tanta University Hospitals, who were present to meet the needs of the village residents and provide high-quality medical care.

   Prof. Mohamed Hussein stated that the university’s participation in this integrated convoy at Mahallat Bishr Village reflects the true spirit of the Delta Region Universities Alliance and the complementary role of academic institutions in serving Egyptian society. He added that Tanta University places strong emphasis on supporting presidential and developmental initiatives and is committed to delivering distinguished healthcare services to the most vulnerable groups across various governorates. The university also seeks to mobilize all its human, scientific, and medical resources to alleviate citizens’ burdens and contribute to building a healthy and prosperous society in alignment with Egypt Vision 2030.

   For his part, Prof. Mahmoud Selim affirmed that the university’s Community Service Sector ensured that the convoy was fully equipped with all necessary medical supplies and medications to provide comprehensive healthcare services to the residents of Beheira Governorate. He explained that the mobile clinics established in Mahallat Bishr Village offered more than just medical examinations and free medication; they also identified critical and chronic cases requiring surgical intervention or advanced diagnostic procedures. Such cases were immediately referred to Tanta University Hospitals for further treatment free of charge and in accordance with the highest quality standards, reflecting the university’s commitment to delivering sustainable services with a tangible impact.

   During the convoy, Tanta University’s medical teams successfully provided free medical examinations and medication to 837 residents of Mahallat Bishr Village. The Ophthalmic Surgery Department recorded the highest number of beneficiaries, serving 137 patients, including 36 cases referred to the university hospitals for further treatment. This was followed by the Pediatrics and Dermatology Departments, each serving 94 patients, with five dermatology cases referred for continued treatment at the university hospitals. The Orthopedics Department provided services to 93 patients.

   In addition, the Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) and Internal Medicine Clinics each served 65 patients. Medical services were also provided in several other specialties, including Dentistry for 60 patients, Chest Diseases for 54 patients, Neurosurgery for 42 patients, Obstetrics and Gynecology for 40 patients, Urology for 25 patients, Cardiology and Vascular Diseases for 32 patients, General Surgery for 22 patients, and Psychiatry and Neurology for 14 patients.

   The convoy received widespread praise and appreciation from the residents of Mahallat Bishr Village and Shubrakhit Center, who expressed their sincere gratitude for the outstanding and free medical services provided by Tanta University. They commended the warm reception, accurate diagnosis, and provision of treatment at no cost, as well as the swift referral procedures for cases requiring advanced medical care to the university hospitals. Such efforts further reinforce the university’s role as a leading developmental institution and a beacon of progress throughout the Delta Region.
