A New Achievement for Tanta University in International Rankings: Seventh Place Nationally Among 21 Egyptian Universities Ranked in CWUR

Professor Dr. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, announced that the university has achieved a new international milestone, adding to its record of successes in global rankings. The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) included Tanta University among the top 5.2% of universities worldwide in its official 2026 edition. He emphasized that this distinction reflects the significant leap and continuous development in the university’s academic and research performance, as well as its growing stature among international higher education institutions.

According to the officially released results, the university president noted that Tanta University advanced to 1107th place globally out of 21,291 universities and higher education institutions evaluated worldwide, marking a significant leap of 46 positions compared to last year. Additionally, the university’s research performance indicator showed remarkable progress, rising 45 places globally to 1062nd, demonstrating the continuous improvement in the quality and impact of the university’s scientific and research output.

At the local and regional levels, Tanta University maintained its prestigious position by securing seventh place among 21 Egyptian universities that appeared in this ranking. Regionally, it moved up two places in the continental ranking, reaching 20th place among African universities, highlighting its educational leadership and strong competitive standing both locally and regionally.

Professor Dr. Mohamed Hussein explained that this tangible progress is the result of continuous efforts and strategic plans adopted by the university to enhance its research ecosystem, promote international publication in leading scientific journals, and expand academic and research partnerships with global institutions and universities. These initiatives contribute to improving the quality of educational and innovative outputs of the university, supporting the objectives of sustainable development.

In this context, the university president extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to the Vice Presidents, Deans of Faculties, the University Center for International Ranking, and all members of the university’s working teams, recognizing their dedicated efforts in monitoring and verifying data and in rigorously applying international standards. He affirmed that this achievement reflects the success of the university’s collaborative work system and the fruitful coordination that has highlighted the genuine advancement of Tanta University’s academic and research performance on the international stage.

It is noteworthy that CWUR is considered one of the most prominent global rankings, evaluating only the top 2,000 universities out of more than 21,000 worldwide. The ranking is based on four objective indicators: quality of education, employment of graduates, faculty excellence, and research output performance, making it an internationally reliable reference for assessing the efficiency of educational institutions globally.
