Tanta University Maintains Its Position in the QS World University Rankings for the Sixth Consecutive Year

Professor Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, announced that the university has once again met international standards for higher education institutions and successfully retained its place in the QS World University Rankings 2027 for the sixth consecutive year. The university was ranked within the 1401+ category globally, among 1,504 universities included in this year’s ranking out of 8,808 institutions evaluated worldwide. At the national level, Tanta University ranked 16th among 18 Egyptian universities listed in the ranking, placing it within the eighth tier among Egyptian universities.

The University President stated that the ranking results demonstrate Tanta University’s sustained performance across most of the key indicators assessed by the QS World University Rankings. The university also achieved notable progress in the International Research Network indicator, advancing from 484th to 456th place globally. He noted that this improvement reflects the university’s expanding international research collaborations and the growth of its academic and scientific partnerships with universities and research institutions around the world. Such developments contribute to enhancing the quality of research outputs and strengthening the university’s international academic presence.

He further emphasized that these results reaffirm the university’s continued visibility and competitiveness on the global academic stage, despite increasing competition and the growing number of institutions included in the rankings, which now encompass 1,504 universities worldwide.

It is worth noting that the QS World University Rankings is one of the most prominent and influential international higher education rankings globally. Published annually by the UK-based QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) organization, the ranking is widely used to assess universities’ academic and research performance, as well as their international impact. In its current edition, the QS methodology is based on nine key indicators: academic reputation, citations per faculty member, employer reputation, employment outcomes, faculty-to-student ratio, proportion of international faculty, proportion of international students, international research network, and sustainability. These indicators are weighted differently to reflect the quality of academic and research performance, as well as the institution’s level of international engagement and influence.
