Professor Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, inaugurated today the 41st Scientific Conference of the Faculty of Medicine. The event was attended by Professor Hatem Amin, Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research; Professor El-Sayed El-Agouz, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs; Professor Mohamed Hantira, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Chairman of the University Hospitals Board of Directors, and President of the Conference; Professor Mohamed El-Badawi, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Postgraduate Studies and Research and Vice President of the Conference; Professor Mohamed Gaber, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Education and Student Affairs; Professor Moataz Sabry, Head of the Department of Ophthalmology and Conference Rapporteur; Professor Hassan El-Tatawy, Executive Director of the University Hospitals; Professor Ragia Sharshar; Professor Mohamed Mokhtar Mabrouk, Secretary-General of the Conference; and Professor Bahaa Tawfik, Head of the Gharbia Medical Syndicate.

    The conference was also attended by a number of former university presidents, former vice presidents and deans, members of the House of Representatives, as well as media professionals and journalists.

    During his speech, Professor Mohamed Hussein expressed his pleasure at attending the 41st Conference of the Faculty of Medicine, held under the theme “Updated Medical Guidelines 2026.” He emphasized that the conference represents a distinguished scientific event that reflects the Faculty of Medicine’s long-standing legacy of achievement and excellence, as well as its ability to keep pace with the rapid developments taking place in medical sciences and practices.

    Professor Hussein affirmed that Tanta University provides all forms of support to the Faculty of Medicine and its university hospitals, in line with the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, aimed at advancing the healthcare system and investing in the development of the Egyptian citizen.

    He further noted that this support is also aligned with the strategy of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, led by Professor Abdel Aziz Qansouh, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which places the development of university hospitals, scientific research, and innovation among its highest priorities.

    Professor Hussein pointed out that these efforts have been clearly reflected in the scale of medical services provided to citizens. During the past fiscal year, Tanta University Hospitals delivered approximately 2.5 million medical services, both within the university hospitals and through medical convoys organized to serve the most underserved and vulnerable communities.

    He explained that these figures do not merely represent quantitative indicators of achievement; rather, they embody the university’s responsibility toward the community and its commitment to ensuring that its healthcare services reach citizens wherever they are.

    The University President also paid tribute to Egypt’s “White Army,” expressing his deep appreciation and respect for the physicians of Tanta University, as well as the nursing staff, technicians, and other personnel working at the University Hospitals, for their tremendous efforts and their noble humanitarian and national mission. He commended the significant responsibilities they undertake every day to safeguard human health and preserve lives.

    He further expressed his great pleasure at viewing the video clips shared on the conference’s official page, which commemorate the distinguished legacy of the pioneering generation and eminent professors of the Faculty of Medicine at Tanta University. He noted that these scenes carry profound significance, reflecting the values of loyalty, intergenerational continuity, and the preservation of the Faculty’s institutional memory.

    The University President stressed that genuine development of the medical sector cannot rely solely on facilities and equipment, but must begin with science, research, and knowledge. He emphasized that Tanta University firmly believes that scientific research is one of the most important tools for developing both individual and institutional capabilities, as it contributes to producing physicians who are better equipped to analyze complex situations and make sound decisions, researchers capable of generating knowledge, and institutions capable of translating that knowledge into higher-quality and more efficient healthcare services.

    The University President added that the issue of updating the medical guidelines addressed by the conference gains its importance from the fact that medical knowledge is changing at an accelerated pace. What we have today in terms of scientific evidence and diagnostic and therapeutic techniques requires us to constantly review our practices and make scientific evidence the basis for medical decision-making.

    The scientific program of the conference reflects this vision through the participation of a wide range of basic, clinical, and surgical specialties, in addition to medical education and sessions for students and young researchers, confirming that the development of healthcare is an integrated process that requires collaboration among various specialties.

    He expressed his hope that the conference would produce practical and applicable recommendations, and that its discussions would translate into sustainable pathways for research, training, and development. He further expressed his hope that the knowledge generated by the conference would contribute to achieving the most important goal for which everyone is working: providing better, safer, and higher-quality medical services to Egyptian citizens.

    He extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to Professor Mohamed Hantira, the Faculty’s vice deans, heads of departments, members of the scientific and organizational committees, and everyone involved in organizing the conference. He also welcomed the participating scientists and guests from various universities and medical institutions.

    During his speech, Prof. Hatem Amin expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to Prof. Mohamed Hussein for his continuous support for science and scientific research, as well as his constant commitment to enhancing the standing of Tanta University and strengthening its pioneering role in supporting scientific research and advancing the healthcare system.

    He added that the Faculty of Medicine has succeeded in establishing itself as a beacon of science and knowledge and in fulfilling its mission of preparing generations of physicians capable of shouldering the responsibilities of the medical profession, keeping pace with the rapid developments in medical sciences, and adhering to the highest standards of professional and ethical quality.

    He noted that the conference represents an important platform for scientific dialogue and the exchange of expertise among professors, experts, and specialists, providing an opportunity to discuss the latest medical guidelines and practices and explore recent developments across various fields of medicine.

    Prof. Amin further pointed out that previous generations at the Faculty of Medicine laid the foundations and built this distinguished scientific and medical institution. He emphasized that the responsibility today is to preserve these achievements, further develop them, and build upon them, ensuring that the Faculty of Medicine at Tanta University continues to serve as a leading institution in medical education, scientific research, and community service.

    He concluded his speech by emphasizing that the conference sessions, workshops, and scientific discussions represent a valuable opportunity to enrich knowledge and exchange expertise, as well as to develop practical recommendations and innovative ideas that contribute to advancing medical practice and positively impact the health of patients and society.

    During his speech, Prof. Mohamed Hantira expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to Dr. Mohamed Hussein, President of the University, for his continuous and unlimited support for the university hospital sector, which currently comprises 17 university hospitals.

    He noted that the University is working diligently to achieve its strategic goal of increasing the total capacity to 4,000 beds through the expansion of new medical projects, most notably the establishment of a new emergency hospital, a university hospital for children, and Hospital 900900.

    Prof. Hantira stressed the great importance of the topic of today’s conference, “Medical Responsibility,” emphasizing that it represents a fundamental pillar in the development of the healthcare system and the protection of the rights of both patients and physicians.

    He pointed out that the conference is witnessing significant scientific momentum, reflected in the organization of 34 scientific sessions and 20 training workshops. He concluded by extending his sincere thanks and appreciation to the members of the conference’s organizing and scientific committees for their dedicated and distinguished efforts in preparing and organizing this important scientific event.

    The closing activities of the conference witnessed the honoring of a number of distinguished figures, who were presented with the conference shield in recognition of their contributions. The honorees included Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of the University; Prof. Hatem Amin, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research; Prof. sayed Al-Ajouz, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs; Dr. Samir Al-Kholy, Member of Parliament; Dr. Tarek Al-Mohammadi, Member of Parliament; Dr. Bahaa Tawfik, Head of the Gharbia Doctors Syndicate; Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Prof. Mohamed Al-Shabibni, former Vice Dean of the Faculty; and the late Prof. Kamal Okasha, former Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, may he rest in peace.
