To Support the "Decent Life" Initiative: Tanta University Launches 12 Comprehensive Convoys to Serve the Most Needy Villages in Gharbia

Tanta University has launched 12 comprehensive developmental convoys over the past six weeks to villages and centers included in the second phase of the presidential initiative "Decent Life." These convoys reached villages such as Al-Sajaiyah in Al-Mahalla Al-Kubra center, Sheshta in Zefta center, Nagrig in Basyoun center, Kafr El-Dawar in Basyoun center, Al-Atoha Al-Bahariya in Qutur center, Kanisat Demsheit in Tanta center, Shabour in Kom Hamada center, Hessa Eibar in Basyoun center, Mansouria Al-Farstak in Kafr El-Zayat center, Al-Banwan in Al-Mahalla Al-Kubra center, Mit Al-Rakha in Zefta center, and Mit Assas in Samannoud center. This initiative was coordinated with the Gharbia Governorate and the Decent Life Foundation under the patronage of Prof. Mahmoud Zaki, President of Tanta University, and Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, with the presence of Prof. Sahar Al-Haggar, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Mohamed Al-Sheibani, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development.

The convoys conducted medical examinations for 11,244 cases through 15 clinics, provided necessary medications for all cases free of charge, and referred 750 cases to Tanta University Hospitals for further treatment and necessary tests, also free of charge. Veterinary services were provided for more than 42,809 livestock and birds, with the participation of a large number of faculty members, doctors, and pharmacists. Medical examinations were conducted in the following specialties:

• 667 cases in neurosurgery

• 1,104 cases in pediatrics

• 1,281 in orthopedic surgery

• 1,150 in dermatology

• 1,173 in internal medicine

• 425 in urology

• 1,033 in ENT

• 233 in general surgery

• 493 in chest diseases

• 281 in psychiatry and neurology

• 1,505 in ophthalmology

• 250 in cardiology

• 685 in laboratory tests

• 226 in family planning

• 738 in various initiatives

Additionally, 750 cases were referred to Tanta University Hospitals, including 92 in neurosurgery, 22 in pediatrics, 112 in orthopedics, 49 in dermatology, 46 in internal medicine, 37 in urology, 78 in ENT, 43 in general surgery, 29 in chest diseases, 22 in psychiatry and neurology, 187 in ophthalmology, and 33 in cardiology.

Moreover, 3,000 final review books were distributed to high school students during the university convoys and to the children of employees as part of the aid convoys.

The convoys also conducted literacy tests for 622 citizens. Faculty members from the Faculty of Nursing provided awareness lectures and health education for village residents about diabetes and hypertension, the basics of recognizing mental illnesses and how to detect and deal with them, and maternal and newborn health.
