The centers have provided services to more than 45,000 students and graduates in 3 years
Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Acting President of Tanta University, chaired today the first meeting held by the Board of Directors of University Centers for Career Development (UCCD), in attendance of Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Ahmed Nasr, Dean of Faculty of Engineering; Prof. Abeer Alam El-Din, Dean of Faculty of Science; Prof. Hany Maharek, Vice Dean of Faculty of Business for Community Service and Environmental Development; Ms. Maha Fakhry, Executive Director of the University Centers for Career Development Project at the American University in Cairo (AUC); Ms. Wafaa Bakhit, Deputy Executive Director of University Centers for Career Development Project at AUC; and Ms. Maryam Al-Gaby, Director of UCCD at Tanta University from AUC; as well as UCCD directors at Tanta University, and Mr. Ahmed Rashad, Secretary-General of Tanta University.
Prof. Mohamed Hussein explained that University Centers for Career Development project has achieved a qualitative leap in development of education management systems and improvement of educational outcomes, while providing support to students in the areas of career counseling, job guidance, and introducing them to the main skills needed to meet current and future labor market demands. He expressed his gratitude to the American University in Cairo (AUC) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for providing technical and financial support to students, graduates, and staff at the centers throughout the three years since the center's launch.
Furthermore, Prof. Mahmoud Selim added that University Centers for Career Development have significantly enhanced partnerships between the university and the surrounding industrial community, including both governmental and private sectors, in accordance with the national strategy for higher education and scientific research. He commended the efforts exerted by the center teams and volunteers in delivering various services, both on campus and during field visits to companies and industrial institutions. In addition, he confirmed that many graduates and students have been employed and trained through the center's activities.
During the session, a report was presented by directors of the centers highlighting the main activities and achievements of the centers. The report indicated that more than 45,000 students and graduates from the university have benefited from the centers' services over the past 3 years. The report also focused on the training offered to staff at the centers, field visits, employment fairs, and roundtable discussions with employers in Gharbia governorate and the Delta region. Additionally, the session reviewed the financial and administrative bylaws of the centers ratified by Ministry of Finance.
