The aim is to improve the quality of the university's research outputs and ensure the publication of its studies in the most reputable international scientific journals.

Prof. Hatem Amin, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, clarified that the mentioned ranking reflects Tanta University's position among academic institutions only. The Nature Index evaluates not only universities but all institutions producing scientific research, including hospitals and health institutes. The Nature Index is one of the key indicators of institutional research performance. It uses Count & Share metrics, based on the institution's publications in 145 prestigious journals covering natural and health sciences, including biological sciences, chemistry, environmental sciences, earth sciences, health sciences, and physical sciences. These journals are selected based on their reputation by panels of leading scientists in their fields, with additional considerations for research quality.

Prof. Amin further explained that the university’s research outputs for 2024 were evaluated based on publications from October 1, 2023, to September 30, 2024. He noted that the Nature Index does not reflect the total volume of research published by an institution but focuses solely on journals with a distinguished reputation in the aforementioned scientific fields.
