Tanta University’s Faculty of Medicine organized a grand celebration to mark the graduation of two cohorts simultaneously for the first time in the college’s history. The event honored the 61st batch of the traditional 6+1 system (November 2023 session), named after former Dean Prof. Osama Abu Farha, and the first batch of the credit-hour program (May 2023 session), named after former Dean Prof. Amgad Abdelraouf.
The ceremony was attended by Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Acting President of Tanta University, along with Prof. Ahmed Ghoneim, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospital Board, and faculty members, including Prof. Howaida Ismail, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Mohamed Hantira, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Louay Al-Ahwal, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development. Several distinguished guests, faculty members, students, and their families also participated in the celebration at Tanta University Stadium in the Sibrabai campus.
During his speech, Prof. Mohamed Hussein expressed his joy at attending the graduation ceremony, congratulating the students and their families on their achievements and the beginning of a new chapter in their lives. He emphasized that medicine is not just a profession but a noble humanitarian mission requiring knowledge, dedication, and ethics. He urged the graduates to continue learning and developing their skills to keep pace with medical advancements, ensuring the best healthcare for their communities and serving as role models for future generations. He also extended his heartfelt gratitude to the faculty members for their dedication to teaching and mentoring students, as well as to the parents for their unwavering support throughout their children's academic journey.
Prof. Ahmed Ghoneim welcomed the attendees and congratulated the graduates and their families. He encouraged them to work hard in their professional careers and highlighted that this day marks the beginning of a new phase in their lives. He reaffirmed the faculty’s commitment to staying connected with its alumni and thanked the organizing committee for orchestrating an exceptional event befitting the college’s distinguished history.
Former deans Prof. Osama Abu Farha, Professor of Urological Surgery, and Prof. Amgad Abdelraouf, Professor of Pulmonary Medicine, expressed their deep appreciation to the faculty administration for the honor of having their names associated with the graduating batches. They congratulated the students and their families, encouraging them to work diligently to alleviate patients' suffering while wishing the Faculty of Medicine continued success and advancement.
During the ceremony, Prof. Ahmed Ghoneim presented honorary shields to Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Prof. Osama Abu Farha, Prof. Amgad Abdelraouf, Prof. Howaida Ismail, and Prof. Bahaa Tawfik in recognition of their contributions and support for the students. The graduates also presented a commemorative shield to Prof. Ahmed Ghoneim in appreciation of his continuous support throughout their studies.
The graduates expressed their immense joy at completing their academic journey and beginning their professional careers in patient care. They extended their sincere gratitude to the faculty administration and teaching staff for their guidance and support and thanked their families for their sacrifices and encouragement throughout their studies.
It is noteworthy that a total of 912 students graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Tanta University, including 891 students from the credit-points system and 21 students from the credit-hour program.
