Today, Prof. Mahmoud Salim, Vice President of Tanta University for Community Service and Environmental Development, received Colonel Mohamed Fawzy Sayed, Deputy Director of the Tanta Recruitment and Mobilization Area; Colonel Waleed Khodair, Head of the Medical Council; and Colonel Ahmed El-Aafy, Head of Gharbia’s Recruitment and Mobilization Department, along with the medical committee team from both the Tanta Recruitment and Mobilization Area and Gharbia’s department. The visit was attended by Dr. Haitham El-Koumy, General Director of Education and Student Affairs at the university, and was aimed at conducting medical examinations for students with special needs, disabilities, or injuries that exempt them from military service.
Prof. Mahmoud Salim emphasized the importance of this visit, which seeks to ease the burden on students with special needs and their families, in line with the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. The initiative reflects the Armed Forces' commitment to providing necessary support and facilities for individuals with disabilities to finalize their military status and obtain medical exemption from compulsory military service.
He also stressed the university’s dedication to supporting students with disabilities, ensuring their well-being, and facilitating procedures to obtain exemption certificates so they can access all related services regarding military service and beyond.
The committee conducted medical examinations for 38 students from Tanta University and Al-Azhar University. The medical committee included Major Dr. Ibrahim Metwally, Head of the Medical Council; Captain Dr. Ahmed Salah; Lieutenant Dr. Bassam Fathy; and Lieutenant Dr. Saad Yasser.
