Prof. Mohamed Hussein Participates in Gharbia Governorate’s Ceremony Honoring Families of Martyrs and Wounded Veterans


Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, participated today in a ceremony organized by the Gharbia Governorate to honor the families of martyrs and the wounded veterans on the occasion of Martyr and Veteran’s Day. The event was held at the Grand Celebration Hall of the Governorate’s headquarters in the presence of Major General Ashraf El-Gendy, Governor of Gharbia; Major General (Rtd.) Medhat Abdel Aziz Fawy, Director of the Veterans and War Victims Association; Major General Ahmed Anwar, Secretary General of the Governorate; and Colonel (Rtd.) Wael Fathy, Military Advisor.


Prof. Mohamed Hussein emphasized that the university always bears a great responsibility in promoting national awareness and instilling the values of loyalty and belonging among its students. He stressed the importance of honoring the legacy of martyrs and celebrating heroic acts, stating that as an academic institution, the university is committed to delivering comprehensive education aligned with the latest global developments. He pointed out that the issue of raising awareness is a core component of the university's strategic vision, which goes beyond academic knowledge to include the preparation of students to become responsible and positively contributing members of their communities. He added: “Martyrdom is the highest form of glory, and Tanta University is proud to take part in such events that reinforce patriotism and loyalty among the youth.”


The celebration featured a speech by Sheikh Noah Al-Eisawy, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Endowments, on the esteemed status of martyrs in Islam. Sheikh Abdel Latif Talha, Head of Al-Azhar Region in Gharbia, also spoke about the virtues of martyrdom and its impact on the nation. The event included an emotional documentary produced by the Department of Morale Affairs of the Armed Forces titled “The Martyr’s Dream”, showcasing the heroic acts and sacrifices of Egypt’s military personnel across various fields of honor.


Following that, Major General (Rtd.) Medhat Abdel Aziz Fawy delivered a speech on behalf of the Veterans Association, which was followed by a segment dedicated to honoring the families of martyrs and wounded veterans.


As part of the event, the Veterans and War Victims Association presented a shield of appreciation to Prof. Mohamed Hussein in recognition of his dedicated efforts to enhance national awareness within the academic community. The association also acknowledged the university's pioneering role in strengthening ties with state institutions to serve national causes, foremost among them being the honoring of the families of martyrs and wounded military personnel.
