Prof. Mohamed Hussein:
We strive to qualify university students for the labor market in line with the vision of the political leadership.
The launch of the "National Policy for Sustainable Innovation" aims to transform Egypt into a knowledge-based, innovative, and sustainable society.
The Forum marks a starting point toward new horizons for exchanging ideas and creating innovative solutions.
Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, inaugurated today the First National Forum on Sustainable Innovation for Egyptian Universities, which will be held over three days with the participation of more than 20 Egyptian universities. The event was attended by Prof. Hamdan Rabie, President of Damietta University; Prof. Mamdouh El-Masry, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Arts; Prof. Eissawy Kassem, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture; Prof. Abeer Alam El-Din, Dean of the Faculty of Science; Prof. Nancy El-Hefnawy, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Information; several faculty vice-deans; Prof. Amal Abdel Sattar, Executive Director of the Community Public Services Center; Prof. Yasser Abdo, Director of the Innovation Unit; and Mr. Mohamed El-Kosseir, Director General of the Student Welfare Administration.
In his remarks, Prof. Mohamed Hussein expressed his delight in attending this first national forum, stressing that it is not a passing event, but rather a launchpad toward new horizons, and a fertile ground for the exchange of ideas and the creation of solutions. He emphasized that real progress is only achieved through innovation, and true innovation is not simply about presenting a new idea, but about creating an applicable solution that addresses challenges and generates value.
He further explained that the forum’s main goal is to instill in students the seeds of innovative thinking, empower them with tools to build and develop business models, and equip them with creative skills that support entrepreneurship and small and medium-sized enterprises. He pointed out that this direction is fully aligned with the vision of Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who places youth at the forefront of national priorities. The presidential initiatives, he added, have opened unprecedented horizons for young people to become effective partners in building the New Republic.
Prof. Hussein also referred to Egypt’s strategic orientation towards supporting innovation, entrepreneurship, and linking scientific research to productive sectors. He highlighted the announcement by Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, of the “National Policy for Sustainable Innovation”, a strategic framework aimed at transforming Egypt into a knowledge-based, innovative, and sustainable society, as part of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research. He also praised the Ministry’s initiative “Be Ready”, currently hosted by Tanta University across three campuses, which aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills required for the dynamic labor market. With its international partnerships, this initiative sets a benchmark in preparing graduates capable of competing not only locally but also globally.
On the sidelines of the forum, Prof. Mohamed Hussein toured the exhibition of innovative projects presented by students from various universities. He praised the diversity and richness of the displayed ideas, affirming that these innovations reflect the creativity and potential of Egyptian youth to contribute effectively to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. He stressed the importance of supporting these young talents and providing the enabling environment to transform their ideas into successful projects that serve both society and the economy.
