Prof. Mohamed Hussein:
We extend our sincere gratitude to His Eminence Grand Imam Prof. Ahmed El-Tayeb for his continued support of initiatives that foster religious awareness.
We are working to enhance the university’s international ranking through incentive measures for faculty members and encouraging them to publish in prestigious international journals.
The Council of Tanta University convened today under the chairmanship of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of the University, with the participation of Prof. Fouad Harras and Prof. Abdel Hakim Abdel Khaleq, former presidents of Tanta University, alongside Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Hatem Amin, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, deans of faculties, Counselor Khairy Amara, Legal Advisor to the University, and Ahmed Rashad, Secretary-General of the University.
At the outset of the meeting, the University President congratulated council members and all university staff on the occasion of the upcoming celebration of the Prophet’s Birthday. He also praised the significant efforts of the deans in managing the summer semester examinations. Within the framework of the university’s commitment to improving its international ranking, Prof. Hussein stressed the directives of the Supreme Council of Universities to encourage faculty and researchers to publish internationally in refereed scientific journals. He emphasized that the university will spare no effort in providing all necessary facilitations, including expediting the disbursement of international publication rewards, to motivate researchers to produce distinguished scientific output.
With regard to student activities, the University President underlined the importance of developing the student activity plan for the new academic year, with particular focus on awareness-building activities that shape student character and enhance their consciousness. He highlighted the pivotal role of the cooperation protocol with Al-Azhar’s Islamic Research Academy, noting that this collaboration aims to organize activities that instill high Islamic values among students, especially in light of contemporary challenges. He extended heartfelt thanks to Grand Imam Prof. Ahmed El-Tayeb for his sustained support of these initiatives.
Prof. Hussein further outlined the importance of the “Be Prepared” initiative, implemented under the presidential initiative “Alliance and Development”, which aims to train one million students and graduates. He explained that the initiative, through three career development centers at the university, equips students with the essential skills required for future employment, bridging the gap between academic education and the labor market. The program also provides practical training, real-world experiences, and career guidance to ensure students are fully prepared for professional life.
In a gesture of appreciation, the University President honored several deans whose terms of office had come to an end, in recognition of their dedicated service and outstanding contributions to the development of their faculties. Those honored included Prof. Mamdouh El-Masry, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Prof. Ahmed Nasr, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Prof. Osama Badr, former Dean of the Faculty of Law.
