Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Tanta University President, welcomed today a delegation from Misr El-Kheir Foundation, in the presence of Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development.
The delegation included Prof. Hazem Wafa, Senior Executive Director of the Gharbia Office, Eng. Sherif Azzouz, Director of the Volunteering Department, Prof. Mahmoud Shaaban, Senior Quality Specialist, and Youssef Wagdy, Volunteering Program Officer. The visit was to sign a cooperation protocol between the University and the Foundation to enhance mechanisms of community volunteering.
The protocol was signed by Prof. Mahmoud Selim on behalf of Tanta University, and Eng. Sherif Azzouz on behalf of Misr El-Kheir Foundation. This agreement comes within the framework of the Foundation’s launch of the “Basmet” Program, which seeks to empower and support volunteer movements across Egypt. The protocol aims to strengthen the culture of volunteerism among university students and support community initiatives nationwide, with a particular focus on engaging youth in developmental programs that address urgent social challenges such as poverty, illiteracy, and disease, in addition to creating real job opportunities.
The cooperation further includes the implementation of youth-focused development projects, facilitating voluntary activities inside the university, and carrying out awareness campaigns in cooperation with university faculties to tackle pressing societal issues. Tanta University will provide the administrative and logistical support to ensure the success of these joint projects, while Misr El-Kheir Foundation will train and qualify outstanding student volunteers and offer technical support for ongoing projects. Volunteers completing 100 hours of service will be awarded an official certificate from the Foundation in recognition of their contributions.
