Tanta University’s Students with Disabilities Win 15 Medals in the Universities Championship

Tanta University’s team for students with disabilities achieved a historic milestone at the Egyptian Universities Championship held in Abu Qir, Alexandria, securing a total of 15 medals:
4 gold, 7 silver, and 4 bronze medals. The goalball team also claimed second place nationwide, earning the silver medal for the first time in the university’s history.

Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, expressed his great pride and joy in this remarkable achievement, emphasizing that it reflects the strong support and care provided by the university to its students with disabilities. He noted that this comes in line with the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to empower and support people with disabilities in all fields, and to ensure they receive comprehensive care within the university.

The President added that Tanta University is committed to offering all forms of material, moral, and logistical support to its outstanding students, and to providing an environment that enables them to excel academically, athletically, and artistically. He extended his heartfelt congratulations to the university’s champions who raised the name of Tanta University high by winning 15 medals, reaffirming that strong will and determination are the keys to success and excellence. He also stressed the university’s continued support to ensure their sustained achievements.

Mina Atef (Faculty of Education) – Gold in Table Tennis

Hossam Fouad (Faculty of Specific Education) – Gold in Table Tennis

Rahma Nabil (Faculty of Law) – Gold in Weightlifting

Mohamed Ashraf (Faculty of Arts) – Gold in Shot Put

Ehab Abdelhamid (Faculty of Arts) – Silver in Weightlifting

Sherif Abdelaziz (Faculty of Arts) – Silver

Yasmin Hossam (Faculty of Arts) – Silver in 100m & Silver in Shot Put

Mohamed Adel (Faculty of Specific Education) – Silver in 100m

Farah Sami (Faculty of Specific Education) – Silver in 100m

Rofeida Hani (Faculty of Specific Education) – Bronze in Weightlifting

Shehd Radi (Faculty of Commerce) – Bronze in Table Tennis

Radwa Essam (Faculty of Specific Education) – Bronze in Table Tennis

Hoda Hani (Faculty of Agriculture) – Bronze in Shot Put


The silver-medal-winning goalball team included:
Basmla El-Desouky, Basmla Mohamed, Dina Ahmed, and Laila Fikry — all from the Faculty of Arts.

The participation and accomplishments of the students were supervised by Dr. Magdy Wakouk, General Coordinator of Student Activities, and Mohamed El-Qassir, Director-General of Student Welfare. The Disabilities Support Unit, led by Mohamed El-Sawaf, carried out the implementation, with the coaching staff including: Mostafa Maria, Nada El-Bendary, Essam El-Suweidi, and Reda Diab.
