Tanta University students have achieved a new sporting milestone after securing first place among Egyptian universities in the Boxing Championship of the Egyptian Universities League, El-Rifai Tournament, in its 53rd edition for the academic year 2025/2026. The team won seven medals: three gold, three silver, and one bronze.

Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, stated that this achievement represents another significant addition to the university’s growing record of successes, reflecting the strength of the team’s performance and the high level of training. He emphasized that the continuous accomplishments of Tanta University’s students reaffirm the university’s commitment to investing in sports and student activities, and to providing an enabling environment that supports excellence in all athletic fields. He expressed his pride in the students’ performance and the tremendous efforts that elevated Tanta University’s name among leading educational institutions.

Moamen Mohamed Farag Kelany, Faculty of Science – Silver Medal (60 kg)

Mostafa Mohamed Saeed Yassin, Faculty of Science – Silver Medal (65 kg)

Mazen Mohamed Hamdy, Faculty of Sport Sciences – Silver Medal (70 kg)

Mohamed Hosny Abu Khadra, Faculty of Law – Bronze Medal (85 kg)


The students’ participation was supervised by Dr. Magdy Wakoak, General Coordinator of Student Activities; Mohamed El-Qasir, Director-General of the General Administration for Student Welfare; and Mohamed El-Sheikh, Director of Sports Activities. The boxing team’s technical staff included Captain Sherif Abdel-Moneim Hazaa, Head Coach of the university team and coach of Egypt’s national youth boxing team; Ahmed Mohamed Abdel-Moneim, administrative supervisor; and prof. Ahmed Hamada Shawata.
