Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Tanta University President, reviewed the annual report titled “Tanta University 2025 Achievements” issued by the university hospitals. The report revealed record-breaking figures reflecting the remarkable development of the medical system and the expanded capacity of the university hospitals in delivering integrated healthcare services.
According to official statistical data, Tanta University Hospitals successfully performed 31,705 surgical operations across various medical specialties during 2025. The hospitals received 233,705 emergency cases, served 320,133 outpatient visits, conducted 896,421 medical laboratory tests, and provided 235,457 diagnostic imaging services.
For critical and specialized cases, care was delivered to 17,885 intensive care patients, 22,233 dialysis sessions were performed, 10,008 endoscopic procedures were conducted, and in oncology services, 13,567 chemotherapy sessions and 1,463 radiotherapy sessions were provided.
The report also highlighted the hospitals’ success in admitting 75,916 inpatients, performing 2,203 cardiac catheterization procedures, and conducting 1,475 nuclear medicine scans, reinforcing Tanta University’s position as a distinguished regional center for advanced and specialized medical services.
Prof. Mohamed Hussein affirmed that Tanta University is fully committed to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to provide distinguished and advanced medical services to citizens. He added that the achievements of Tanta University Hospitals in 2025 represent a practical translation of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research, particularly its core pillar of active community engagement.
He emphasized that university hospitals do not merely provide medical services; rather, they integrate scientific research, academic training, and advanced medical care to ensure the highest quality of healthcare for citizens across the Delta governorates.
He further noted that the figures outlined in the report—exceeding 2,457,954 medical services provided during 2025, including 142,000 beneficiaries of state-funded treatment programs and more than 450,000 diverse medical services—confirm that university hospitals have become the primary destination for patients in Central Delta.
The University President added that the quantitative and qualitative medical leap witnessed in 2025, culminating in nearly 2.5 million medical services, is the result of an integrated strategic vision. He highlighted the diversity of medical facilities at the university, ranging from the state-of-the-art New Surgical Hospital to specialized hospitals for oncology, nephrology, and pediatrics, enabling the provision of comprehensive healthcare services that meet all citizens’ needs across the Delta region.
For his part, Prof. Mohamed Hantira, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of University Hospitals, stated that Tanta University Hospitals rely on the latest global treatment protocols, supported by cutting-edge technological equipment. He cited advanced nuclear medicine devices that served 1,475 cases and modern imaging systems that accommodated 235,457 cases during the year.
He stressed that this high level of accuracy and technological advancement has made the hospitals the most trusted destination for citizens, praising the outstanding efforts of the highly qualified medical, nursing, and technical staff.
Prof. Hantira emphasized that the university places top priority on continuous training of medical teams to ensure professional and compassionate nursing care worthy of Egyptian patients. He noted that the collective efforts of these dedicated teams enabled the successful performance of 31,705 complex surgical operations with internationally recognized success rates, embodying the university’s full commitment to active participation in the national higher education strategy and transforming scientific research into tangible outcomes that support citizens’ health and reinforce national healthcare initiatives.
