University President Presents a Detailed Overview of the University’s 2025 Achievements Based on Nine Core Pillars Aligned with Egypt Vision 2030 and the Principles of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research
The Tanta University Council convened today under the chairmanship of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Tanta University President, and in the presence of Major General Ashraf El-Gendy, Governor of Gharbia, Prof. Fouad Harras, former President of Tanta University, Prof. Abdel Hakim Abdel Khaleq, former President of Tanta University, Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Hatem Amin, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. El-Sayed El-Agouz, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, along with faculty deans, Counselor Khairy Amara, Legal Advisor to the University, and Mr. Ahmed Rashad, University Secretary-General.
The session opened with a moment of silence in honor of the late Prof. Kamal Akkasha, former Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research. The University President emphasized that the late professor left a profound and lasting impact on the development of the scientific research system, commending his distinguished contributions that significantly advanced this vital sector during his tenure.
Major General Ashraf El-Gendy extended his congratulations to all members of the university community on the occasion of the beginning of the new year 2026, expressing his hope that it would be a year of prosperity and continued progress for this prestigious academic institution. He praised the comprehensive report presented by Prof. Mohamed Hussein on the university’s achievements in 2025, stressing the importance of integration between the governorate’s executive bodies and the university. He affirmed the continuation of close cooperation and joint efforts in the coming period to sustain development and achieve further shared successes that serve Egyptian citizens and support the state’s sustainable development plan and Egypt Vision 2030.
For his part, Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Tanta University President, expressed his appreciation to the Governor of Gharbia for the governorate’s ongoing efforts to serve citizens, noting that the tangible development witnessed in Gharbia Governorate reflects fruitful cooperation that contributes to achieving comprehensive development. In a gesture highlighting the university’s role in linking scientific research with real-world needs, the University President presented an innovative idea proposed by students of the Faculty of Engineering to the Governor, involving the creation of a “tourism route through heritage villages in the Delta region”. The initiative aims to revive local heritage and place historically significant villages on the tourism map—an idea warmly welcomed by the Governor as a model of cooperation between youth innovation and executive authorities.
Prof. Mohamed Hussein then delivered a detailed presentation reviewing the university’s achievements in 2025, structured around nine core pillars, including: global excellence and international leadership in scientific research; quality of education and academic accreditation; infrastructure development and digital transformation; the National University project; the medical sector and community service; professional development efforts; student activities and support for persons with disabilities; international cooperation; enhancement of self-generated resources; as well as new construction projects and maintenance plans.
The University President concluded his presentation with a report on Tanta University’s participation in the 42nd Conference of the Arab Association of Registrars and Admissions Officers (ARAB ACRAO), recently held in Tunisia. He reviewed the outcomes of discussions with Arab and international universities aimed at signing academic and research exchange agreements across multiple fields, in line with the principles of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The session also witnessed a welcome for newly appointed academic leaders, as Prof. Mohamed Hussein congratulated Prof. El-Sayed El-Agouz on the issuance of the Presidential Decree appointing him Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Ahmed Nasr on his appointment as Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.
Additionally, Prof. El-Sayed El-Agouz presented an explanatory overview of the new electronic platform developed by the University’s Management Information Systems Unit. The platform aims to provide real-time daily monitoring of examination processes, ensuring discipline and rapid response to any challenges, reflecting the university’s significant technological advancement in digitizing its administrative and educational sectors
