Six teams from Tanta University advanced to the Hult Prize qualifying round for student entrepreneurship projects, presenting projects that serve the Sustainable Development Goals.

Tanta University organized the qualifying rounds for the Hult Prize competition for student social entrepreneurship projects specializing in entrepreneurship that serves the Sustainable Development Goals. The event was held under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of the University, and Prof. El-Sayed El-Agouz, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and under the supervision of Prof. Yasser Abdo, Tanta University Coordinator for the Fund for the Care of Innovators and Talented Individuals, and Prof. Mohamed El-Quseir, Director General of the University's Student Welfare Department.
Prof. Mohamed Hussein affirmed that Tanta University prioritizes supporting innovation and entrepreneurship, in line with Egypt's Vision 2030. He added that the university does not view innovation and entrepreneurship as supplementary student activities, but rather as a fundamental pillar of its educational and research strategy. He further stated that the Hult Prize competition is not merely a competition, but a platform to empower students to transform their creative ideas into tangible projects that contribute to solving societal problems and achieving sustainable development. He expressed his pride in the level demonstrated by the students during the event and their ability to compete both locally and globally.
For his part, Prof. El-Sayed El-Agouz explained Tanta University's ongoing commitment to providing a fertile environment for students to explore their potential. He emphasized that the entrepreneurial ideas presented by students in the Early Stage and In Market tracks reflect Tanta University students' awareness of global issues. He affirmed the university's continued provision of technical and logistical support to these teams to ensure they represent the university honorably in the upcoming stages of the competition.
Twenty teams participated in the competition, with three teams qualifying in the Early Stage category and three in the In Market category. The first-place winner in the Early Stage category was Team Reshell, whose project recycles eggshells and transforms them into a safe, natural source of calcium used in children's food products such as biscuits and fortified powders. The second-place winner was Team Strawtivity, which collects rice straw instead of burning it and uses pressing and weaving techniques to create a strong material used in the manufacture of chairs and other practical products as an alternative to wood, thus helping to reduce deforestation. The third-place winner was Team Kemet, who transformed jasmine into a luxury Egyptian brand, combining identity, sustainability, and luxury. They utilized jasmine waste for their Zero Waste products and used natural stabilizers instead of chemicals.
In the IN MARKET category, the first place went to the "Ghadwa" team, which bridges the gap between the kitchen in every home and the search for healthy food. They transformed their skills from simple crafts into a professional project offering healthy, guaranteed meals at affordable prices. Second place was awarded to the "Dari" team, which provided a practical solution to the biggest challenge facing expatriate students: finding accommodation. Their innovative website created a reliable platform that ensures students find safe, comfortable, and suitable housing, saving them time and effort. Third place went to the "Telmeez" team, a website platform that transforms personality tests and career analyses into a true compass, helping students discover their passions and charting their career paths to launch their professional lives.
