Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, participated in the periodic meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities, held today under the chairmanship of Prof. Abdel Aziz Qansouh, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in the presence of Prof. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary of the Council, and the Council members, at the Ministry's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.
According to a Ministry statement, the Minister directed several executive measures to rationalize energy consumption in universities and institutes, and emphasized that transforming research outputs into innovations is among the Ministry's top priorities. He also stressed the importance of full coordination between university hospitals and Ministry of Health hospitals to improve healthcare services for citizens, and the involvement of universities in addressing societal challenges and achieving sustainable development. He commended the inclusion of 21 Egyptian universities across 42 disciplines in the 2026 QS World University Rankings by Subject.
The Supreme Council of Universities approved the launch of an awareness campaign for university and institute students on rationalizing energy consumption in society, and the academic calendar for the new academic year 2026/2027.
