Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, attended today the grand ceremony organized by the Faculty of Medicine to graduate the 62nd cohort of the Credit Points Program, named after Prof. Mohamed Shafik, former Vice President of Tanta University, and the late student Ahmed Mustafa Al-Barajah, and the second cohort of the Credit Hours Program, named after Prof. Ayman Al-Saeed, former Dean of the Faculty.
The ceremony was attended by Prof. El-Sayed Al-Agouz, Vice President of Tanta University for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Mohamed Hantira, Dean of the Faculty and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals; Prof. Mohamed Gaber, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Loay Al-Ahwal, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Hassan Al-Tatawy, Executive Director of University Hospitals; Prof. Bahaa Tawfik, Head of the Gharbia Medical Syndicate; and a number of faculty members, graduates, and their families. The ceremony was held at Tanta University Stadium in the Sebrbay campus.
During his speech, Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, emphasized the long-standing history and leading position of the Faculty of Medicine as a cornerstone of the university. He pointed to the faculty's tangible excellence in several strategic areas, including academic and research distinction, its active role in advancing scientific research and publishing research in prestigious international journals, and its direct and fundamental contribution to raising Tanta University's ranking in numerous international classifications. He also highlighted the faculty's ability to balance academic excellence with active participation in activities that contribute to students' character development.
Prof. Mohamed Hussein expressed his happiness and pride in sharing with the college graduates the celebration of reaping the rewards of years of sleepless nights, hard work, and perseverance. He urged the students to continue learning, emphasizing that medicine is a lifelong pursuit, and that what they learned at the college is the key to a vast world of knowledge. He also stressed the importance of adhering to the ethics of the profession. He added that the Faculty of Medicine had exerted every effort to train students according to the latest international standards, and that the university hospitals—a source of pride for the Delta region—had generously provided the students with the training grounds to hone their skills under the supervision of a distinguished group of professors and scientists who spared no effort in sharing their expertise. He extended his deepest respect and appreciation to the parents, describing them as the unsung heroes who sacrificed so much to see their children reach this moment. He wished all the students continued success and boundless achievements, and commended the efforts of the ceremony's organizing team, praising their sincere dedication and high level of professionalism, which ensured the event reflected the prestige and standing of the college and the university.
For his part, Prof. El-Sayed El-Agouz expressed his immense joy at being among the graduates today, at this most beautiful moment of achievement. He emphasized that this ceremony is the culmination of a long period of hard work and perseverance, and a declaration of the beginning of their promising journey towards a bright future. He added that the university's education and student affairs sector has always prioritized the student's well-being, and the university is always keen to provide all forms of support to its students, believing that the doctor of the future needs a stimulating educational environment that helps them to innovate and excel. He advised the students to always remember that the quality of healthcare begins with the quality of education they received at the college, and wished all the students success in their future endeavors.
In a related context, Prof. Mohamed Hantira, Dean of the College, expressed his immense pride in graduating two new classes named after two distinguished academic figures: Prof. Mohamed Shafiq, former Vice President of the University, and Prof. Ayman El-Saeed, former Dean of the College. The Dean extended his heartfelt appreciation to the parents who were reaping the rewards of their hard work and dedication. He emphasized the long-standing tradition of the College and its university hospitals, a medical complex comprising 15 hospitals with a capacity of 3,000 beds. He announced an ambitious development plan by 2030 aimed at increasing capacity to 4,000 beds, in addition to constructing a new College building and a new emergency hospital. He thanked Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of the University, for his continuous support and unwavering commitment, which directly contributes to these achievements. He also commended the efforts of the department heads and professors for their ongoing dedication and commitment to instilling the values of science and knowledge in the students. Finally, he urged the graduates to continue their diligent work to achieve success in their professional careers and serve their country.
The ceremony included the graduates reciting the 'Doctors' Oath' after Prof. Bahaa Tawfiq, the head of the Gharbia Doctors Syndicate, thus announcing the start of their professional journey and their commitment to the ethics and honor of the profession. The ceremony's shield was presented to Prof. Mohamed Hussein, the university president, Prof. El-Sayed El-Agouz, the vice president of Tanta University for education and student affairs, Prof. Mohamed Shafiq, the former vice president of Tanta University, Prof. Ayman El-Saeed, the former dean of the college, Prof. Bahaa Tawfiq, the head of the Gharbia Doctors Syndicate, and the family of the late student Ahmed Mustafa El-Barajah. The graduating students of both cohorts were also honored.
