- A pioneering step to establish the first fully independent center in the Republic dedicated to the care of stroke patients

    Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, inspected the new Stroke Center at the Faculty of Medicine, Tanta University, in the presence of Prof. Mohamed Hantira, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals; Prof. Hassan El-Tatawy, General Supervisor of University Hospitals; Prof. Mohamed El-Badawy, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Graduate Studies and Research; Dr. Ihab Shawky, Director of the Center; and Dr. Shaker Hussein, Consultant and Director of the Neurological Intervention and Stroke Fellowship Program at Baby Memorial Hospital in Kalith, Kerala - India; and Dr. D. Amal Al Hashemi), Senior Consultant in Neurology and Stroke, Canadian Board Certified from McGill University, Former Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Oxford; and Prof. Muhammad Al-Mikhlafi, Associate Professor of Stroke Medicine and Neurointerventional Radiology at the University of Calgary's Cumming School of Medicine, and Medical Director Acute Strokes Unit at Foothills Medical Center.

    During his tour, the university president stressed that the center represents a qualitative addition to the services of the medical system and university hospitals in Tanta, and a pioneering step as it is the first fully independent center in the republic dedicated to the care of stroke patients. He stressed that Tanta University places at the top of its priorities the establishment and development of specialized centers and hospitals and providing them with the latest medical equipment and international technologies, which ensures the provision of superior and rapid health care that adopts the highest international quality standards, and contributes effectively to supporting the health of citizens in the Delta and the Republic.

    Dr. Ihab Shawqi, Director of the Center, gave a presentation during which he discussed the center's advanced capabilities and the modern medical equipment it possesses, explaining that it is the first completely independent center (Stand-alone) in the Republic dedicated to serving and providing superior medical care to stroke patients. 

    The center includes 29 beds equipped with the latest capabilities, including 6 intensive care beds, a radiology unit (CT scan, MRI), a television radiology unit, 2 capsules for cerebral catheterization and neurosurgery, a neurorehabilitation unit, outpatient clinics, a pharmacy, a hall for continuing medical training, and a medical registration unit.
