    Tanta University Council held its meeting today, headed by Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of the University, and in the presence of Major General Dr. Alaa Abdel Moati, Governor of Gharbia, Prof. Fouad Harras and Prof. Abdel Hakim Abdel Khaleq, former presidents of the university, vice presidents of the university, deans of colleges, Counselor Khairy Amara, legal advisor, and accountant Ahmed Rashad, Secretary General of the University.

    Major General Dr. Alaa Abdel-Moati expressed his happiness to participate in the University Council meeting, offering his congratulations on the occasion of the Prophet's birthday and the approaching start of the new academic year, stressing that the governorate continues to work to confront vital challenges and files through executive solutions aimed at achieving sustainable development and improving the level of services provided to citizens.

    The governor explained that the file of economic blocs is receiving advanced priority, as Gharbia includes 25 industrial blocs distributed over 66 villages, including the linen, carpet, furniture, LED bulbs, honey, spinning and weaving industries, stressing the provision of the necessary support for these industries and working to integrate them into the formal economy to maximize their added value, provide job opportunities, and increase production and export capacity.

    He also reviewed the governorate's efforts in implementing the visual identity project in a number of centers, dealing with the file of garbage accumulations, and the progress achieved in the reconciliation and removal files, stressing that direct communication with citizens represents a basis for identifying challenges and working to solve them.

     The Governor of Gharbia stressed that Tanta University represents the house of expertise, the scientific and economic arm of the governorate, and a strategic partner in supporting sustainable development plans, praising the continuous integration and coordination between the university and the executive bodies.

    For his part, Prof. Mohamed Hussein stressed that Tanta University's plans and executive programs come in line with the orientations and visions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, led by Prof. Abdel Aziz Qansouh, and in implementation of the university's development strategy, which supports the quality of the educational process, raises the efficiency of institutional performance, and enhances competitiveness, innovation, internationalization, and connection to the needs of the labor market. He directed the deans of colleges to work on preparing detailed reports on student ideas for emerging projects that can be implemented in all fields and specializations in preparation for submitting them to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research within two weeks at the latest.

     The university president explained that in preparation for the new academic year, the university implemented a number of maintenance and efficiency improvement projects for university facilities at a total cost of 188 million pounds, in addition to disbursing 1.87 billion pounds directed to new construction projects currently being implemented, aiming to improve health, educational and administrative services and increase capacity.

     The University President directed the deans of the colleges to intensify awareness of the opportunities and fields of work related to each academic program through official websites and social media platforms, announcing the provision of educational and training grants to the top students in languages and computer science to develop their skills and enhance their competitiveness.

    The University President also reviewed the university performance evaluation platform, which is based on 92 standard criteria, praising the efforts of the Strategic Planning Unit in completing the required data and indicators, and stressing that modern university administration must be based on accurate performance indicators that support decision-making and ensure continuous monitoring of achievement rates.

    Prof. Mohamed Hussein discussed the university's plan to expand the reuse of treated water, reviewing the success of operating the gray water treatment plant at the Faculty of Engineering, and the future vision for expanding the experiment, which enhances the efficiency of resource use and supports the university's orientation towards environmental sustainability. The university president concluded by reviewing Tanta University's preparations to participate in the education exhibition scheduled to be held in England, as part of efforts to enhance international presence, introduce distinguished academic programs, and attract international students.

    During the session, the University President was keen to thank Prof. Shahira Sharaf El-Din, Executive Director of the Main Center for International Relations and Expatriate Affairs; Prof. Wissam Salah, Executive Director of the Center for Institutional Performance; Prof. Nada El-Shenawy, Executive Director of the Main Center for Electronic and Cognitive Services; and Prof. Mohamed El-Shishtawy, Executive Director of the Main Center for Sustainability and Director of the University Center for International Classification, and their assistant work team for their tangible efforts in advancing and developing the university.
