Prof. Muhammad Hussein: Accreditation enhances the university's regional and international position in medical education and training

    Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, announced that the Department of Internal Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine has obtained programmatic accreditation for a period of 6 years as an accredited training center to qualify Arab doctors from the Arab Council for Health Specialties «Arab Board», affiliated with the Council of Arab Health Ministers of the League of Arab States.

    Prof. Mohamed Hussein emphasized that this accreditation represents a new achievement for the medical education system and university hospitals at Tanta University, reflecting the university's advanced infrastructure and qualified academic and medical staff capable of applying international quality and accreditation standards. He noted that the department's accreditation as a training and qualification center for Arab doctors enhances the university's regional and international role and supports its position as a leading institution in education, training, and healthcare services.

    The university president added that the university continues to implement its plans to develop medical and training programs and improve the quality of treatment services provided to patients, in line with the latest international systems and standards in medical education and health training. He thanked Prof. Hatem Amin, Vice President of the University for postgraduate Studies and Research Affairs, Prof. Mohamed Hantira, Dean of the Faculty and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals, Prof. Mohamed Mohamed Mokhtar El-Badawy, Vice Dean of the Faculty for postgraduate Studies and Research Affairs, and Dr. Hassan Al-Tatawi, Executive Director of Tanta University Hospitals.

    For his part, Prof. Mohamed Hantira, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals, expressed his pride in the Department of Internal Medicine obtaining accreditation, appreciating the continuous support of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of the University, to develop the medical education system and university hospitals.

    The Dean of the College explained that the accreditation was the culmination of continuous efforts to develop the medical training and education environment, as the Department of Internal Medicine met all the standards approved by the Arab Council for Health Specialties, based on its human competencies, academic experience, and advanced training and medical capabilities, stressing that this is directly reflected in the quality of doctors' training and the level of health services provided to patients, thanking all members of the work team participating in the accreditation file.

    The program's accreditation comes under the supervision of Dr. Jamal Al-Najjar, Head of the Internal Medicine Department and Program Director, and Dr. Yasser Abdel Raouf, Deputy Program Director, as a continuation of the accreditation system for various programs at the Faculty of Medicine, under the academic supervision of Dr. Rajia Sharshar, Director of the Training Department and Academic Supervisor at the Arab Board, and Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar Mabrouk, Deputy Academic Supervisor and Director of Quality Department.

    The accreditation decision came following an evaluation visit conducted by the Arab Council for Health Specialties team to the department on July 6, 2026. The visit included Dr. Mohammed Al-Tarini from Libya, Chairman of the Measurement and Examinations Committee at the Arab Board, as Chairman of the Committee; Prof. Ahmed Al-Hassi from Libya, Consultant Internal Medicine at the University of Benghazi; Prof. Mohammed Wahib Salman from Iraq, Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Baghdad; and Prof. Ahmed Al-Tawdi from Egypt, Professor of Plastic Surgery and Director of the Cairo Office of the Arab Board.
