Tanta University Organizes an Environmental Medical Convoy to Al-Ga’faria Village in Santa

     Yesterday, Tanta University organized an environmental medical convoy to Al-Ga’faria Village in Santa in Gharbia governorate to serve citizens of the village and the adjacent villages under patronage of Prof. Ibrahim Abdel Wahab Salem, Acting President of the University; Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Daboun, Head of Community Service and Environmental Development Sector; in cooperation with Al-Santa City Council, Health Affairs Directorate, Environmental Affairs Agency in Middle Delta, Education Directorate, Social Solidarity Directorate, Veterinary Medicine Directorate in Gharbia and the General Authority for Adult Education in Gharbia governorate. 

    In the convoy, about 1900 cases from the village were medically examined by a group of University professors with different specializations. Medicaments costing 50 thousand EGP were disbursed for free. Moreover, the Social Solidarity Directorate distributed financial aids of 100 EGP each to 100 needy families in the village. In addition, 8 persons passed the literacy test. Furthermore, instructional and educational lectures were given by professors from Faculty of Nursing on cancer, methods of detection and protection from it; diabetes, its kinds, complications and how to care about diabetic foot; first aids of burns, fractures, bleeding and others. 

    The convoy included organizing competitions in fitness, athletics and football with the participation of a team of professors from Faculty of Physical Education headed by Prof. Al-Sayed Samy, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, to discover the outstanding emerging talents of the villagers in preparation for being supported by the university.   

     Prof. Ahmed Shakal, Faculty of Medicine Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Mai Salama, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Mohammed Maamoon Al-Sheikh, Faculty of Dentistry Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; and a number of professors from various faculties and majors took part in the convoy from Tanta University.
