Tanta University continues its international presence for the ninth consecutive year in the Times World Classification 2027

    Tanta University continued its presence in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2027, after being included in the 1001–1200 category globally, to record its presence in the global rankings for the ninth year in a row, and maintain its position in the same global category compared to the previous year, and it also came in the third category locally among Egyptian universities according to the global segments published in the ranking.


    The university's results this year came in light of a noticeable expansion in the scope of international competition, as the classification included 2,297 university institutions from 118 countries and regions around the world, while the number of Egyptian universities included in the classification increased from 36 universities in the 2026 edition to 40 universities in the 2027 edition.


    Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of Tanta University, stressed that the university's continuation within the Times World Ranking for the ninth consecutive year reflects the sustainability of institutional efforts made to advance various elements of the academic and research system, explaining that the university adopts an integrated vision to enhance its competitiveness at the regional and international levels, based on improving the quality of the educational process, supporting qualitative scientific research, increasing the impact of research outputs, expanding the scope of international partnerships, enhancing innovation and knowledge transfer, and linking scientific research to the needs of industry and society.


    The university president added that maintaining international presence in light of the continuous increase in the number of participating universities globally represents an incentive to continue working on developing institutional performance indicators, stressing that international classifications are not a goal in themselves, but rather a tool for measuring real development in the quality of education, scientific research, international openness and community service . He Pointed out that the university is working according to executive plans aimed at achieving sustainable progress in these areas in line with the objectives of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research and Egypt's Vision 2030.


    Tanta University's results in the 2027 edition showed an improvement in a number of indicators related to research performance; as the Research Quality score increased from 66.3 points in 2026 to 67.6 points in 2027, and the Research Environment score increased from 9.5 points to 11 points.


    For his part, Prof. Hatem Amin, Vice President of Tanta University for postraduate Studies and Research, explained that the improvement achieved by the university in the indicators of the quality of scientific research and the research environment reflects the continuous development in the postgraduate studies and scientific research system, the efforts made to support researchers and encourage quality and impactful scientific publishing, develop international research cooperation, and create an environment more supportive of creativity, innovation, and knowledge production.


    The Vice President of the University pointed out that Tanta University works to maximize the benefit from its research and human capabilities, support interdisciplinary and applied research related to development priorities, and encourage the building of research partnerships with universities, international scientific institutions, and productive and industrial sectors, which contributes to increasing the quality and impact of the university's scientific production and enhancing its presence in international databases and classifications.
