Prof. Muhammad Hussein: Transforming scientific research outputs into applications and projects with economic and societal returns is a priority for the university
Directives to expedite the accreditation of colleges and programs and support the establishment of research centers of excellence
Today, Tanta University Council met under the chairmanship of Prof. Mohamed Hussein, President of the University, and in the presence of Prof. Fouad Harras and Prof. Abdel Hakim Abdel Khaleq, former Presidents of the University; Prof. Hatem Amin, Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research; Prof. Al-Sayed Al-Agouz, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs; and Prof. Mahmoud Selim ,Acting Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs; Deans of Colleges; Counselor Khairy Amara, Legal Advisor to the University; and Accountant Ahmed Rashad, Secretary-General of the University.
At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Muhammad Hussein thanked the deans of the colleges for their efforts in starting the academic year and regularizing the educational process, stressing the importance of continuing field follow-up to ensure regular study and provide a suitable educational environment for students.
The University President emphasized that supporting innovative projects and producing prototypes for students and researchers is a key focus of knowledge investment, maximizing the use of scientific research outputs and transforming them into implementable applications and projects that achieve economic and societal returns. He emphasized the importance of expanding applied research and linking it to the needs of society and the labor market.
The Council reviewed the position of the university's faculties and programs on accreditation and quality assurance, as the University President directed to expedite the completion of accreditation procedures for the remaining faculties and programs and to meet quality requirements according to the specified timetables, in a way that supports the development of the educational system and raises the university's competitiveness, congratulating Prof. Mohamed Hantira, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, on renewing the institutional accreditation of the faculty for the third time, and approving the Medicine and Surgery Program with a points system approved for the first time by the National Authority for Education Quality Assurance and Accreditation.
Prof. Muhammad Hussein also stressed the importance of expanding the international participation of faculty members, researchers and students in scientific conferences and events, in a way that enhances the university's international academic presence and supports international classification indicators, in addition to expanding the establishment of centers of excellence in priority scientific and research fields.
The University President pointed out the continued support for researchers in applying for research projects funded by international bodies and institutions, and benefiting from funding opportunities and research partnerships, which contributes to raising the quality of scientific production, expanding the international cooperation network, and enhancing Tanta University's presence on the global scientific research map.
During the meeting, the University President reviewed a presentation on 16 innovative projects submitted by Tanta University in various fields in accordance with the guide issued by the Supreme Council of Universities, covering the project areas and mechanisms for supporting them, developing them, and transforming them into applicable models.
The Council also discussed the university's mechanisms for supporting innovators and those with promising ideas. Prof. Mohamed Hussein thanked Prof. Mahmoud Selim for launching the first internal initiative at Tanta University to sponsor and support innovative projects, stressing the importance of continuing initiatives that contribute to discovering distinguished ideas, developing them, and transforming them into projects of applied and developmental value.
