In Enhancement of the Presidential Initiative Decent Life and in Cooperation with the Cabinet, Tanta University Organizes a Comprehensive Developmental Convoy in Qutor District for Economic Empowerment, Supporting Small-Scale Enterprises and Social Welfare

A Workshop for training in baking bread and making dairy products, fertilizers, and detergents

    Tanta University organized a comprehensive developmental convoy to Qutor district in Gharbia governorate under patronage of Prof. Mahmoud Zaki, University President, and Prof. Mahmoud Salim, University Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, under the umbrella of the presidential initiative Decent Life in cooperation with the Supreme Medical Aid Committee of the Cabinet and Decent Life Foundation.

    Prof. Mahmoud Zaki declared that the university holds comprehensive developmental convoys to help citizens in the neediest villages through offering economic, health and social services. He highlighted the importance of economic empowerment in various fields to provide youth with job opportunities, to offer food aids in cooperation with Ministry of Social Solidarity, to examine patients, and to give them medicaments for free. He commended the strenuous efforts exerted by Community Service and Environmental Development Sector in implementation of the plans drawn up by the university to present services in the neediest villages.

    Moreover, Prof. Mahmoud Salim pointed out that Community Service and Environmental Development Sector gives a high priority to entrepreneurship, economic empowerment, and enhancement of micro, small and medium-size enterprises to optimize the role played by the university in community service and in supporting Egypt’s vision 2030.

     In addition, he pointed out that the university’s convoy in Samatay village located in Qutor district offered different services to citizens as it included a workshop of training in micro industries, lectures, and medical care. He stated that Faculty of Nursing participated in the convoy with lectures about nutrition, first aid and self-examination for breast cancer; Faculty of Science participated with lectures on making organic fertilizers, soup, and detergents.

   Furthermore, Prof. Mohammad Al-Shebiny, Vice Dean of Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development, pointed out that 1348 patients were examined at the convoy in 13 different medical specialties. It is worth noting that 35 citizens took literacy exams at the convoy in cooperation with Social Solidarity.
