Enhancing Decent Life Initiative, Tanta University Organizes a Comprehensive Developmental Convoy in Kafr El-Zayyat District

Offering medical care to 1514 patients…outreach and educational services to citizens

   Tanta University organized a comprehensive developmental convoy to Aqua Al-Hessa village located in Kafr El-Zayyat district in Gharbia governorate under patronage of Prof. Mahmoud Zaki, University President, and Prof. Mahmoud Salim, University Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, in cooperation with the Supreme Medical Aid Committee of the Cabinet under the umbrella of the presidential initiative Decent Life.

    Prof. Mahmoud Zaki asserted that Tanta University supports the presidential initiatives in the light of its pioneering role in community service. He indicated that the comprehensive developmental convoy organized today coped with two presidential initiatives namely “Decent Life” and “One Million Trees”, in implementation of the university’s strategy particularly the first, third, fifth and ninth pivots, and the sustainable development vision Egypt 2030.

     Furthermore, University President declared that Tanta University organized 3 convoys where 4341 patients were examined in various medical specialties and were given medicaments for free. In addition, 258 cases were transferred to University Hospitals. Veterinary services were provided to 3877 animals. In addition, outreach, agricultural, social, and economic empowerment convoys were held, and 75 illiterate citizens were educated.

      Moreover, Prof. Mahmoud Salim pointed out that the convoy held today included many health, outreach, and educational activities offered to citizens in the neediest areas. It included a visit to Al-Folk Charitable Foundation that helps persons who suffer from Down syndrome. The visit aimed to follow up implementation of the protocol signed by the university and the foundation. He pointed out that Faculty of Pharmacy participated in the convoy by presenting the medications for free to the examined cases. Faculty of Nursing took part with lectures about nutrition, first aid, and self-examination for breast cancer. Faculty of Agriculture planted 30 fruitful trees in the context of the presidential initiative “100 Million Trees” in cooperation with Gharbia Governorate, City Council, and the Local Government Unit.

    In addition, Prof. Mohammad Al-Shebiny, Vice Dean of Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development, affirmed that 1514 patients were examined at the convoy in 12 different medical specialties.

    Fifty boxes of food assistance were distributed to citizens of the village in cooperation with Ministry of Social Solidarity in attendance of Prof. Sahar Al-Haggar, Acting Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy; Prof. Mohammad Al-Sayed, Dean of Faculty of Agriculture; Prof. Adel Helal, Vice Dean of Faculty of Agriculture for Community Service and Environmental Development; Mr. Mohammad Ghazy, General Manager of Environmental Projects; and Mr. Maher Saad, General Manager of Community Service.
