Tanta University Organizes a Comprehensive Developmental Convoy in Santa Offering Medical Care to 1195 Patients and Planting 50 Fruitful Trees

Tanta University organized a comprehensive developmental convoy in Kafr Soleiman village located in Santa district in Gharbia governorate under patronage of Prof. Mahmoud Zaki, University President, and Prof. Mahmoud Salim, University Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, in cooperation with the Supreme Medical Aid Committee of the Cabinet under the umbrella of the presidential initiative Decent Life.

    Prof. Mahmoud Zaki asserted that the university exerts great efforts to enhance the presidential initiatives as they aim to improve the life of Egyptian society and to raise the standard of living achieving sustainable development goals and Egypt’s vision 2030. He declared that the convoy organized today took part in two presidential initiatives namely “100 Million Trees” and “Decent Life”. He added that Tanta University organized 3 convoys in Santa city where 3735 patients were examined in various medical specialties and were given medications for free as well as transferring 200 patients to University Hospitals. There were also outreach, agricultural, social and economic empowerment convoys; 140 illiterate citizens were educated.

   Moreover, Prof. Mahmoud Salim inspected the clinics of the convoy where he was accompanied by responsible personnel of “Decent Life”. He examined some patients and affirmed that the university offers different services to citizens including medical, outreach, and environmental ones. He added that Faculty of Medicine participated in the convoy with examining patients. Faculty of Nursing gave lectures on nutrition, first aid, and self-examination for breast cancer. Faculty of Pharmacy offered medicaments for free to the examined patients. In addition, Faculty of Agriculture offered 50 olive trees to be planted in the village in the light of the university’s participation in “100 Million Trees” initiative.

    Furthermore, Prof. Mohammad Al-Shebiny, Vice Dean of Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development, pointed out that 1195 patients were examined at the convoy in 12 different medical specialties.

   It is worth noting that 70 citizens had literacy exams at the convoy that was held with participation of Prof. Sahar Al-Haggar, Acting Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy; Mr. Mohammad Ghazy, General Manager of Environmental Projects; and Mr. Maher Saad, General Manager of Community Service.
