Enhancing Decent Life Initiative, Tanta University’s Comprehensive Convoy in Samannoud Offers Medical Care Services of 1174 Patients and Gives them Medications for Free

Tanta University organized a comprehensive medical convoy in Al-Thoebania village located in Samannoud province in Gharbia governorate under patronage of Prof. Mahmoud Zaki, University President, and Prof. Mahmoud Salim, University Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, in cooperation with the Supreme Medical Aid Committee of the Cabinet as part of the presidential initiative Decent Life.

   Prof. Mahmoud Zaki declared that convoys achieve communication between the university and society. Therefore, the university is keen on organizing convoys regularly in the neediest villages in Gharbia governorate to offer medical care to patients and to give them medications for free in addition to presenting environmental and outreach services, organizing veterinary convoys, presenting assistance to citizens, and holding literacy exams. He pointed out that this is the sixth convoy to be organized by the university in Samannoud in 2022 where 6466 patients were examined and 263 ones were transferred to University Hospitals. In addition, literacy exams were held for 150 citizens.

   Moreover, Prof. Mahmoud Salim indicated that the university’s plan aims to send convoys to the neediest villages to offer medical care to patients with participation of professors from Faculty of Medicine in various specialties. He added that Faculty of Pharmacy participated in the convoy and offered medicaments for free to the examined cases. Faculty of Nursing delivered lectures on nutrition, first aid, and self-examination for breast cancer. In addition, Faculty of Agriculture gave 50 olive trees to be planted along the road in the context of the presidential initiative “100 Million Trees”.

   Furthermore, Prof. Mohammad Al-Shebiny, Vice Dean of Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development, stated that 1174 patients were examined at the convoy in 12 different medical specialties.

    It is worth noting that 20 citizens had literacy exams at the convoy that was held with participation of Prof. Sahar Al-Haggar, Acting Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy; Mr. Mohammad Ghazy, General Manager of Environmental Projects; and Mr.
