Tanta University organized a comprehensive medical convoy in Samannoud town in Gharbia governorate to examine needy patients and to give them medications for free under patronage of Prof. Mahmoud Zaki, University President, and Prof. Mahmoud Salim, University Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, in cooperation with the Supreme Medical Aid Committee of the Cabinet as part of the presidential initiative Decent Life.

   Prof. Mahmoud Zaki affirmed that the university organizes medical convoys to offer medical care services to patients in the neediest villages, to give them medicaments for free, and to transfer serious cases to University Hospitals to be operated under supervision of outstanding medical staff.

   Moreover, Prof. Mahmoud Salim indicated that awareness is the basis of prevention from various diseases. He added that Faculty of Nursing participated in the convoy with lectures given about nutrition, first aid, and self-examination for breast cancer. Faculty of Pharmacy participated in the convoy and offered medicaments for free to the examined cases. In addition, Faculty of Agriculture helped to plant 100 fruitful trees along the road in the context of the presidential initiative “100 Million Trees” in cooperation with the Governorate, the City Council, and the Local Governing Unit.

    Furthermore, Prof. Mohammad Al-Shebiny, Vice Dean of Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development, stated that 1273 patients were examined at the convoy in 13 different clinics and that 97 cases were transferred to University Hospitals.

      It is worth noting that 20 citizens had literacy exams at the convoy that was held with participation of Prof. Sahar Al-Haggar, Acting Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy; Mr. Mohammad Ghazy, General Manager of Environmental Projects; and Mr. Maher Saad, General Manager of Community Service.
