To Enhance Decent Life Initiative, Tanta University’s Convoy in Basyoun Offers Medical Care to 1412 Citizens

Tanta University organized a comprehensive medical convoy in Abo Homr village located in Basyoun province in Gharbia governorate to examine patients and to give them medications for free under patronage of Prof. Mahmoud Zaki, University President, and Prof. Mahmoud Salim, University Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, in cooperation with the Supreme Medical Aid Committee of the Cabinet as part of the presidential initiative Decent Life.

    Prof. Mahmoud Zaki affirmed that the university organizes medical convoys in the neediest villages and districts of the governorate to enhance the presidential initiative Decent Life in the context of the role played by the university in community service as the convoys offer medical services to patients and give them medicaments for free.

Moreover, Prof. Mahmoud Salim indicated that, during the comprehensive medical convoys, lectures are given to disseminate awareness among students about prevention from diseases. He added that Faculty of Nursing participated in the convoy with lectures given about nutrition and first aid. Faculty of Pharmacy participated in the convoy and offered medicaments for free to the examined cases. In addition, Faculty of Agriculture helped to plant 50 fruitful trees along the road in the context of the presidential initiative “100 Million Trees” in cooperation with the Governorate, the City Council, and the Local Governing Unit.

   Furthermore, Prof. Mohammad Al-Shebiny, Vice Dean of Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development, stated that 1412 patients were examined at the convoy in 12 different clinics and that 92 cases were transferred to University Hospitals.

   It is worth noting that 86 citizens had literacy exams at the convoy that was held in attendance of Prof. Mohammad Al-Shebiny, Vice Dean of Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Sahar Al-Haggar, Acting Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy; Mr. Mohammad Ghazy, General Manager of Environmental Projects; and Mr. Maher Saad, General Manager of Community Service.
