Tanta University held a huge celebration today in Conference Center at the headquarters of University Administration on the occasion of being the top university in adult education among governmental universities based on the results of July 2022 as the university managed to educate 24367 illiterate persons. The celebration was attended by Prof. Mahmoud Zaki, University President; Prof. Mahmoud Salim, University Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Mohamed Yehia Nasef, Head of the Executive Body of the General Authority for Adult Education; Prof. Kamal Okasha, University Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research; Prof. Mohamed Hussein, University Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; Mr. Mohammad Abo Al-Nabail, General Manager of Adult Education Authority in Gharbia; Prof. Eman Raafat Fathy, Manager of Department of Protocols at the General Authority for Adult Education; Prof. Hany Al-Shamy, Dean of Faculty of Commerce; Prof. Ahmed Helal, Dean of Faculty of Education; many academic staff members, a group of leaders of the General Authority for Adult Education and a lot of university students.
In the speech he delivered, Prof. Mahmoud Zaki, Tanta University President, affirmed that the achievement made by Tanta University is a culmination of the cooperation among three institutions namely the university, the General Authority for Adult Education, and the Governorate. He pointed out that the state under President\ Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi is effectively confronting serious challenges such as illiteracy.
Furthermore, University President stated that he is proud of university students and coordinators of the Literacy Project at faculties of the university. He thanked personnel of the General Authority for Adult Education, Gharbia Governorate, local governing units in villages and hamlets, and citizens who helped the university to educate more than 68 thousand illiterate persons.
Moreover, Prof. Mahmoud Salim, University Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, added that Community Service and Environmental Development Sector always seeks to implement the university’s role in serving community; an example is participation of the sector in the national project of “Illiteracy-Free Egypt”. He asserted that this achievement will lead to other ones that will make the university pioneering at the regional and international levels. He thanked all who participated in this great result.
At the end of the celebration, Prof. Mohamed Yehia Nasef handed Tanta University President the shield of the General Authority for Adult Education, and Tanta University President granted him the shield of Tanta University.
