Tanta University Organizes a Guidance Environmental Convoy to the Village of Sandesis

On Thursday, current April 20th, Tanta University organized a guidance medical convoy in Sandesis Primary School in Al-Mahalla Al-Kobra to serve citizens of the village and the adjacent villages. The convoy was under auspices of Prof. Ibrahim Abdel Wahab Salem, University President, and Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Daboun, Head of Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at the University, in cooperation with the authority of Al-Mahalla Al-Kobra City Council, Health and Social Affairs, Environmental Affairs Agency in Middle Delta, Education Directorate, Social Solidarity Directorate and the General Authority for Adult Education in Gharbia Governorate.

The convoy included 18 medical specializations, including neurosurgery, pediatrics, orthopedics, cardiology, dermatology, and chest, as well as the specializations of ENT, gynecology, obstetrics, urology, general surgery and dentistry.

About 1800 citizens in the village were examined by professors from faculties of Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing of the University. Medicaments that cost 40 thousand pounds were disbursed for free. Furthermore, 50 persons from the village passed literacy exams. Social Solidarity Directorate disbursed a financial aid of 100 EGP to 100 poor families in the village. In addition, symposiums and informative lectures were given to disseminate awareness in areas of first aids, prevention from HCV, children’s depression, enhancement and its importance for children, methods of reward, and pest control.

For the first time, professors from Faculty of Physical Education participated in the convoy. They were headed by Prof. Al-Sayed Sami, Faculty Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, where tests were made to find out citizens’ unique talents of physical fitness and hand-grip strength. Moreover, there was participation from Faculty of Specific Education by Prof. Hassan Rashid, Faculty Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and a number of professors from the Faculty to make tests

in different artistic fields and activities in addition to tests for citizens of the villages and finding out youths’ talents in poetry and elocution through a team of teaching staff from Faculty of Arts headed by Prof. Ahmed Al-Arabi, Faculty Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development.
