In Enhancement of Decent Life Initiative, Tanta University’s Convoy in El-Mahalla El-Kobra Province Offers Medical Care Services to 1301 Patients

Tanta University organized a comprehensive medical convoy today in Al-Hayatem village in El-Mahalla El-Kobra province located in Gharbia governorate to examine patients and to give them medicaments for free under patronage of Prof. Mahmoud Zaki, University President, and Prof. Mahmoud Salim, University Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, in cooperation with Decent Life Foundation.

   Prof. Mahmoud Zaki, Tanta University President, affirmed that the medical convoys are organized by the university in the context of the university’s plan drawn up to enhance the presidential initiative Decent Life through offering quality medical care services to patients in the neediest areas and giving them medicaments for free. He commended the role played by the outstanding medical teams that include academic staff members from Faculty of Medicine.

  Moreover, Prof. Mahmoud Salim, University Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, declared that 1301 patients were examined at the convoy in 12 clinics and were given medicaments for free. He added that 86 cases were transferred to University Hospitals to continue their treatment and to get the needed checkups for free.

   Furthermore, Prof. Mohamed Al-Shibiny, Vice Dean of Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development, pointed out that 90 patients were examined in neurosurgery clinic, 136 in pediatrics, 191 in orthopedic surgery, 124 in dermatology, 164 in internal medicine, 108 in urology, 114 in ENT, 32 in general surgery, 56 in chest, 41 in neuropsychiatry, 204 in ophthalmology and 41 in cardiovascular surgery at the convoy.

   In addition, 40 citizens took literacy exams at the convoy, and 50 fruitful trees were planted. Moreover, academic staff of Faculty of Nursing gave lectures to citizens of the village on first aid and chronic diseases.

   It is worth noting that the convoy was held with participation of Prof. Sahar Al-Haggar, Acting Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy; Prof. Randa Al-Deeb, Manager of the Unit for Combating Violence against Women; Mr. Mohamed Ghazy, General Manager of Environmental Projects; and Mr. Maher Saad, General Manager of Community Service.
