In Enhancement of Decent Life Initiative, Tanta University’s Convoy in Santa Province Offers Medical Care Services to 1179 Patients

Tanta University organized a comprehensive medical convoy today in Mit Yazid village located in Santa province in Gharbia governorate to examine patients and to give them medicaments for free under patronage of Prof. Mahmoud Zaki, University President, and Prof. Mahmoud Salim, University Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, in cooperation with Decent Life Foundation.

   Prof. Mahmoud Zaki, Tanta University President, highlighted the significance of the medical convoys organized by the university to offer quality health care services to patients in the neediest villages and to enhance the presidential initiative “Decent Life”. Prof. Zaki commended the role played by the outstanding medical teams that include academic staff members from Faculty of Medicine.

    Moreover, Prof. Mahmoud Salim, University Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, declared that 1179 patients were examined at the convoy in 12 clinics and were given medicaments for free. He added that 81 cases were transferred to University Hospitals to continue their treatment and to get the needed checkups for free.

   Furthermore, Prof. Mohamed Al-Shibiny, Vice Dean of Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development, pointed out that 54 patients were examined in neurosurgery clinic, 147 in pediatrics, 165 in orthopedic surgery, 124 in dermatology, 125 in internal medicine, 51 in urology, 142 in ENT, 41 in general surgery, 66 in chest, 42 in neuropsychiatry, 188 in ophthalmology, and 34 in cardiovascular surgery. Other 81 cases were transferred to University Hospitals.

      In addition, 41 citizens took literacy exams at the convoy, and 50 fruitful trees were planted. Moreover, academic staff of Faculty of Nursing gave lectures to citizens of the village on first aid and chronic diseases.

   It is worth noting that the convoy was held with participation of Prof. Sahar Al-Haggar, Acting Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy; Prof. Randa Al-Deeb, Manager of the Unit for Combating Violence against Women; Mr. Mohamed Ghazy, General Manager of Environmental Projects; and Mr. Maher Saad, General Manager of Community Service.
