In Enhancement of Decent Life Initiative, Tanta University’s Convoys in Basyoun and Samannoud Provinces Offer Medical Care Services to 3404 Patients

    Tanta University organized a medical convoy this week in cooperation with Gharbia Governorate in Kotama village located in Basyoun province to examine patients and to give them medicaments for free under patronage of Prof. Tarek Rahmy, Gharbia Governor, and Prof. Mahmoud Zaki, University President, in attendance of Prof. Mahmoud Selim, University Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Sahar Al-Haggar, Acting Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy; and Prof. Mohamed Al-Shebiny, Vice Dean of Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development.

   Furthermore, Tanta University organized two comprehensive convoys in cooperation with Decent Life Foundation in Al-Nawia village located in Samannoud province and in Mit Sherif village located in Basyoun province in Gharbia governorate in attendance of Prof. Adel Helal, Undersecretary of Ministry of Agriculture for Community Service and Environmental Affairs, and Prof. Randa Al-Deep, Manager of the Unit for Combating Violence against Women.

   At the three convoys, 3404 patients were examined in 15 clinics and were given medicaments for free. They were examined in many medical specialties as follows: 229 patients were examined in neurosurgery clinic, 317 in pediatrics, 426 in orthopedic surgery, 381 in dermatology, 342 in internal medicine, 122 in urology, 320 in ENT, 63 in general surgery, 166 in chest, 86 in neuropsychiatry, 499 in ophthalmology, 96 in cardiovascular surgery, 60 in dentistry, 270 analyses, and 81 in the family planning clinic. In addition, 253 cases were transferred to University Hospitals to get the needed checkups for free and to continue their treatment.

   Moreover, 352 citizens took literacy exams at the convoys, and 150 fruitful trees were planted in the villages. Academic staff from Faculty of Nursing gave lectures to citizens on first aid and chronic diseases, in addition to a symposium for farmers of the village on contract farming where all their questions were answered. There was also a symposium on breast cancer and prevention from it.

    It is worth noting that the convoys were held with participation of Mr. Mohamed Ghazy, General Manager of Environmental Projects, and Mr. Maher Saad, General Manager of Community Service.
